I guess so. More the corporate working class these days tho. Hey hoI suppose it depends on your definition of working class. To me, most people are still working class no matter what salaried jobs they have to pay for the match day expense.

Yes, but that's what I've been saying. You have to have that as a base. It's not the end in and of itself. It enables.Wasnt the Milan team built on an unbeatable defence?
He wasn't asking to be indulged, just treated like everyone else.
Bad politics that's called.
Mourinho plays a very boring style of football, yet he is one of the most succesful managers of modern times.Creative football and innovators will always come through and be the best football teams. The Austrian Wunderteam. the Magical Magyars, the Dutch Clockwork Orange...all historical example of the same commitment to play passing football studded with star players.
The best international team ever: Brazil 1970; the best club team ever, probably the Milan 'Immortals' team of Arrigo Sachi. Both packed with creativity and star players.
It'll ALWAYS be that way, thank goodness.
That's fine. I accept much of that. However, do it indoors, nio dragging the issue into the media practically all season.Therein lies the problem Dave, Ross had 3 seasons of being fawned over and told he was doing good things when at times he wasn't and probably knew in himself he wasn't. This past season was a bit of a reality check, the fawning had stopped and he was taking more solid, and at times harsh, advice. In 4 seasons as a first team player it's gone from one extreme to another without a happy medium and his agent may have picked up on that and got in his head a touch, hence the stalling on a new deal

There's a balance to be achieved. For me we need to ensure we dont start tilting way too far toward the perspiration end of the Inspiration/Perspiration see-saw.

I have done. I haven't deviated form the sentiment.Read the thread title Dave.

drenthe didn't lack for effort when he was actually on the pitch, problem was him getting through a weeks training without the booze, brasses and beak, and fair play to him on that scoreAndy van der Meyde and Royston Drenthe always used to put a shift in...

this isn't true I'm afraid, to be a top level sportsman, genetically you've won the lottery, no doubt huge amounts of graft also go into it, but you still need to be a bit lucky upon your creationThe irony of this comment is that every footballer gains his skill through hard work and self discipline ,it isn't magically bestowed on them. When people bemoan their lack of talent they are excusing themselves for lacking the necessary dedication, commitment and application to pursue their own ambition.
