Covered more ground than anybody else according to the stats on the channel I watched.
He didn't touch the ball for 17 minutes in the second half against Liverpool, coupled with the fact he had the armband on that night as well he should of been placed on the transfer list after that game. Flatters to deceive...pops up with the odd 30 yarder every now and then. He can go in summer for me.

Arhhh been missing the point for years, it’s running that makes football, and softarse me thought tackling, passing, influencing games and having a presence was football
You could be the best technically gifted player in the world and not move from the centre circle all game and then get called lazy, my point is he's putting the effort in, it's only a matter of time he comes good again

He was brilliant in the first half hour there. Lost like the rest of midfield the 15 that followed. Stronger second half especially when doeph bolstered mid field

Thought that Newcastle had stumbled onto something by realizing they had a numbers advantage in midfield even though Davies and Siggy were playing well. Delph addition was good business.

Ancelotti has him sussed already. Basically told him to sit deep, stopped him running forward like a useless galoot, and just get rid of it as soon as he gets it. Basically leveraging the one thing he isn’t rubbish at. He’ll be jettisoned as soon as some actual midfielders return to fitness.

You mean he has got him playing better when you say he has him sussed, as the last two games he has played very well.

Ancelotti was what Koeman and Silva couldn’t that this bloke has no pace, no positional awareness and shouldn’t be anywhere near the attacking end of the pitch. He’s basically instructed him to stay deep and spray the ball around, about the only thing he is half decent at. He’s not in the class of Gomes in that position though so will be out as soon as we have a better option.

I think Iwobi myself is better for that slot, if he can get him.playing well too be a bonus

He's not been a disaster playing deep which is more than I thought he would be capable of. He hasn't been good either. It's also been a very good set of opponents and tactics for him. However City and the RS will run rings around him so hopefully Carlo doesn't leave him hung out to dry.

Assuming he doesn't want to leave the UK, he may well end up at Villa, West Ham or equivalent in January as a last throw of the dice to avoid relegation on their part. A costly throw at that.

Think ive said the same last Jan...its a perfect time for desperate sides to go for someone like Sigurdsson.

We need to be taking advantage of others desperation and use the jan window to move him on for a half decent fee.

Can anyone explain what outstanding qualities he has? What makes him stand out from any other player in the squad? I have never seen the quality from him that was deserving of us splashing close to £50m on him, ever. Keep seeing ‘he covers the most ground’ like that’s something to shout and boast about but it’s really not. We spent £50m on a player to run around and do very little else?

I just think his signing has been pretty much pointless on the whole. Stood out in a team full of jobbers at Swansea, a club where he could probably get away with half arsed efforts and there were zero expectations.

Needs moving on in the summer.

Last season, played 38 league games, scored 13, with 6 assists. So, contributed a goal every other game, which is pretty good from midfield / #10, and for me would justify the price tag, if he did regularly.

This season though, he has been a waste of a shirt.
