Can anyone explain what outstanding qualities he has? What makes him stand out from any other player in the squad? I have never seen the quality from him that was deserving of us splashing close to £50m on him, ever. Keep seeing ‘he covers the most ground’ like that’s something to shout and boast about but it’s really not. We spent £50m on a player to run around and do very little else?

I just think his signing has been pretty much pointless on the whole. Stood out in a team full of jobbers at Swansea, a club where he could probably get away with half arsed efforts and there were zero expectations.

Needs moving on in the summer.
Yes, to me he looks "a big fish in a small pond" type of player but will never make it at a bigger club where the levels of expectation are higher. Couldn't cut it at Spurs and hasn't been great here either. Robbie Savage used to run around a lot as well, like a headless chicken, but that didn't make him a good player.

Last season, played 38 league games, scored 13, with 6 assists. So, contributed a goal every other game, which is pretty good from midfield / #10, and for me would justify the price tag, if he did regularly.

This season though, he has been a waste of a shirt.

He doesn’t do it regularly though. For £50m those stats are a bare minimum requirement.

The likes of Ryan Fraser, Matt Ritchie and Ashley Westwood accounted more assists than him last season.

Yeah I agree, fact that he hasn’t contributed anything like that this season, means he has been a waste of a shirt.

Ritchie and Westwood didn’t throw in with many goals to go with their assists.

Fraser is a fair comparative shout with 7 goals, 14 assists, so slightly better than a goal every other game, and he was their fans’ player of the season with that return.

He’s been alright. A couple of good steals up the field and a good feed to Seamus, but he is definitely not ideal without a ridiculously dominant midfielder alongside him.
