If someone as gifted as Ozil isn't able to cope with the pace of the league anymore, it shouldn't be all that surprising to see Sigurdsson struggling.

He still produces moments of genuine quality, and I could easily see him doing well in a less physically demanding country, but the game in England has largely passed him by.

I think most of them were in the Wolves game where he played very well.

I mean if you sit up top, take the set pieces, take the penalties and do very little else, you damned well better be leading our side in goals, assists, etc. “Chances created” are just that- chances. We need way more production from him (or hopefully someone else).

Context is important with stats so here is the context for why this doesn't prove Gylfi is playing well. First that is all chances created and doesn't factor in that 12 of Gylfi's are set pieces. While taking set plays is a skill, open play chances tend to be converted more and are generally harder to generate. Second it doesn't factor in that rolling the ball 5 yards so someone can strike it from 35 yards out is as much a chance as De Bruynes cross for Jesus to score against us. Factoring in chance quality shows Sigurdsson to be rather average creatively.

I don't think this will be popular but if we switched to a 4-3-3 Grealish would be a great player to sign for it. McGinn possibly as well but I really like the way Grealish has developed since his past PL stint.
