How many of those were from open play, out of a matter of interest?

The thing is, that has to be caveated by the fact that in open play, all of our play goes down the wings.

That isn't because Gylfi hides, it's a clear tactic.

Gylfi creates chances in open play when he gets on the ball in the final third. Usually, it's when he's drifted wide, because centrally we just don't seem to play it into him that much.

When we do, he tends to try and get a shot off or a throughball, but that requires a few things

a) the midfielders behind him to find the pass (Gomes needs to do more of this, I think having Delph there is a big help)
b) players to make runs to create space (that's the strikers and then a midfielder breaking from deep)
c) Gylfi to be better with his movement

In the first three games none of those things really happened.

Against Lincoln we did a bit more of it but that's caveated by the level of opposition. Against Wolves, it was a clear tactic to get an overload on the rigth-hand side as Vinagre is weak defensively, so it would mean Boly has to push out and cover, hence creating space in the box.

He has created 10 chances in the first 4 Premier League matches, tying for 5th best player.

probably true that stat, but he takes corners and some free kicks so putting in 2 good corners a game that someone gets on the end of doesn't make up for a poor 90 minutes overall does it.

not slating siggy either because he's a good player but he has started the season very poorly lets be honest ( last game aside )
