Guillaume Hoarau on his way from PSG?

That Jelavic turned out crap too. And Coleman. And Fellaini. We should stop buying players from bad leagues.

The French league isn't a crap league at all. I haven't read the whole thread to be honest but I'm surprised people are saying that.

Sure, it isn't England, Spain, Germany or Italy, but it's right on the tails of that "top four".

An "Everton" league, if you will!

I had a really good argument to prove that it is crap but I've already posted it and I don't really want to repeat myself.

Proved nothing really. The Dutch league is atrocious but still produced Suarez. Jelavic came from the SPL. Fellaini came from the Belgian league, Mirallas from the Greek.

And all of those leagues are technically inferior to Ligue 1.

In regards to Hoarau, no shame in being nudged out by Ibrahimovic and co. at the French version of Man City, but I don't think he's actually that good. He'd be a decent addition short term, like Stracq, but can't envisage him doing too much here if he did sign.

Ligue 1 is poor, but it has some class players no one can deny that. Would love us to get the likes of Belhanda.

Imagine if you combine the bodies of Vic, Saha and Big Dunc.
I like them odds, like. Would be a typical Moyes signing. Don't figure he'd be ultraprolific or anything, but our squad needs him.

We really do need him. Right now we can't even bench Jelavic because we have no-one responsible enough to start in front of him.

2010/11 - 45 starts, 8 subs - 20 goals, 8 assists
2009/10 - 21 starts, 5 subs - 8 goals, 3 assists
2008/09 - 36 starts, 7 subs - 20 goals, 2 assists

It was only last season that he really fell out of favour at PSG, before then he was scoring at a ratio higher than 1 in 3.

Even if he only scored 1 in 4 for us, he's on a free in the summer and you'd imagine we would only loan him in January if we were interested. Not much to lose. After all, who could we get on loan who is better ?

38 goals in 111 games. Wouldn't really call that crap tbh.

Agreed. I like the comparison made to Peter Crouch earlier in the thread; it's a good one. Hoarau is one of those players who scores goals but never seems to inspire anyone to rave about him.

He relies on service more than most. My concern is that he scored those goals in a PSG side that were very much kings of the castle in Ligue 1 with very few sides around them coping with the overall quality they have.

Would he be anywhere near as prolific against Premier League defences is the question... My belief is that he will do very similarly to Stracqualursi, or maybe the better comparison is Pavel Pogrebnyak - shine bright for a while but then fade.

But if he's coming in until the summer on loan, then that wouldn't be too bad.

Think he'd be a good match for the way we play at the moment. E.g. get the ball to Baines and cross it in. We haven't really got many players other than Fellaini who you'd expect to get on the end of a cross.
