If Portugal are gonna retain, they really have to do it the hard way....Group of death....now Belgium, then Italy, then maybe France again before the final...

Looks like alot more quality in the top half of the draw....as good as England could have hoped for...
The best 4 teams in the tournament are all in the top half. Craziness. England have lucked out majorly again.

The Germans always struggle against the underdogs. Lost to Serbia in 2010 WC, drew 2-2 to Ghana and nearly got knocked out by Algeria in 2014 WC, but the Germans will turn up in big games in the knockout stages.

Lighting up the stadium in rainbow colors against Hungary is a direct protest against their government's policies, which in turn is a political statement. UEFA have zero tolerance for political statements. Or you believe UEFA should become political?

Shut up you bible thumping jesus freak.:)

Taking the knee is politically motivated. It’s double standards.

Scandalous but all too familiar officiating from Lahoz, one of most corrupt Spanish refs. Game will be broken if things like that continue, I saw similarly scandalous decisions in Copa America

We will have to play Germany next which is historically speaking not only a difficult game for us but almost guaranteed elimination if history is any judge. It's not as if we've won the pools. It wasn't really England's fault either that at the last world cup many of the usual favorites were nowhere to be seen as it was a weird tournament.
If they are to win England will have to beat the likes of Germany and France or whoever gets through and if that happens they will have deserved it.
Seems like people are preparing a narrative to fit all of the possible permutations. If we go out in the next round it'll be because we were c#ap and Southgate was cr#p (told you so). If we progress and do well it'll be because we were lucky and Southgate was cr#p (told you so)!
There was no real group of death in this year's newly introduced 'everyone's a winner (except Scotland)' system anyhow!

Netherlands have been really good so far. Better than France or Portugal for me. Not that the bottom isn't weaker but a Germany-Netherlands semi would be a strong game.

Look at the top of the draw and then the bottom. Where would you rather be?

9 out 10 would say they prefer to play the Dutch than the French. Germany is difficult but they’re clearly not what they were. Get through that and you’re in line for Sweden or Ukraine before likely Netherlands or Denmark to make the final.

Contrast that with Belgium who have to play Portugal, then likely Italy, and then France or Spain…That’s a gauntlet.

Yeah, England have lucked out.

The Dutch were in the weakest group so will be interesting to see if they carry on their form in the knockout games

I like this German team but I don't trust Low.
