Lighting up the stadium in rainbow colors against Hungary is a direct protest against their government's policies, which in turn is a political statement. UEFA have zero tolerance for political statements. Or you believe UEFA should become political?
UEFA believes LBGTQ rights are human rights unless someone says they aren't. Then it is political and we can't have that right?

That's ridiculous really. If that's how you feel don't make the statement. Human rights don't take breaks.

Just dug this out of the Internet and haven't checked its validity etc but ..

Articles 1 and 2(a) of the UEFA Statutes make it clear that UEFA is:

neutral, politically and religiously”, with an overriding objective to “promote football in Europe in a spirit of peace, understanding and fair play, without any discrimination on account of politics, gender, religion, race or any other reason

UEFA appear to have used the first part of their own statute (Politically neutral) to make their point whereas the Germans wanted to make a point about discrimination (and show their support for a group that is often discriminated against)

Perhaps you don't feel like the Hungarian government is being discriminatory in any way with its statement on LBGTQ?

No, it becomes political when the Allianz Arena wasn't illuminated in rainbow colors against France or Portugal but it's lighted up in rainbow colors against Hungary. That's a direct attack on Hungary, in political terms. Yes, I agree LGBT rights equals human rights but UEFA need to draw a line here. Football has no room for political statements or jabs at other nations.

If Germany had lighted their stadiums in rainbow colors from the get-go, this literally would've been a non-issue.
