Are keepers allowed to punch the ball? Yes. Was that what Lloris was trying to do? Yes. Could he have done anything after Danilo won the ball to stop doing it? No.
I see. So all that matters is he tried?

No, it's the same as a striker nicking the ball around a keeper sliding in and the keeper then connecting.
Danilo wins the header, the keeper misses the punch and connects with the player.
It's not a deliberate punch, but it's a punch nevertheless. You can make the argument that it's so reckless that it's a pen even if the keeper got the ball first, which he didn't, so it's a moot point.

He hasn't "missed the punch" - he would have connected with it if Danilo hadn't beaten him to the ball by a fraction of a second.
A keepers allowed to slide tackle too but if he does and smashes the striker instead of the ball it's a penalty.
Don't know what your rationale is here.
Players are allowed to perform flying torpedo lunges through a player's leg as long as they meant to get the ball
Only when they punch an opposition player.............................He hasn't "missed the punch" - he would have connected with it if Danilo hadn't beaten him to the ball by a fraction of a second.
The whole idea of punching the ball away is to do it with enough force that the ball goes away, and keepers are encouraged to come out and do it. If you start giving penalties for what Lloris did there, you basically make punching the ball away illegal because its going to be a penalty whenever they miss the ball.
