For me the defender lines him up and never even acts like playing the ball. As I've said in midfield or on the wing if a defender does that has a guy knocks the ball past him it is being given whether the player dribbling is running fast or not. But in the box the rules are always different.

Same goes for that Turkey handball the other day. If it is the center of the field and a guy flicks a ball past a defender whose arm is out like that and blocks it the handball is being called. That's just how it goes.

I've always liked Scotland and it has nothing to do with England so sorry about that blow to the Anglocentric worldview. I also said yesterday that I like the current England side. Just the supporters are bad tits, apparently you included.

I've got serious questions about how the sport is refereed at all times. It is really just a complete crapshoot.

If you were a ref we’d have about 50 penalties every game.

If I were in charge of refereeing I'd instruct refs to stop favoring not giving away penalties and teams would give away a lot until they adjusted to that. In time the sport would favor teams playing up the field and get rid of the effectiveness of the low block.
