Don’t get the eulogising over Sterling from the commentary

….I’m a huge fan. I appreciate he’s actually a poor striker of a football and he misses sitters but just look at the number of times he gets on the end of things, just look at the times he gets in behind defenders, just look at the times he gets beyond the main striker.

He must be an absolute nightmare to play against, rapid but a strength that belies his frame.

Foden is fantastic, but Sterling’s involvement was much more. He fluffs his lines but he continues to be a threat, that’s why you notice him lots. Missing sitters but 13 in 17 games for England from a wide position reflects his worth.

Fair play to Southgate for selecting Sterling despite his poor league form. I wouldn't have started him. Sterling was MOM and kept troubling Croatia throughout the game.

Just checked and if they win the group, and with home games against Czechs and Scotland coming they should win the group, they get the runner up of the Germany, France, Portugal group. That's really tough obviously even at Wembley.

I used to love supporting England in the big tournaments when I was younger but I’ve got more and more ambivalent over the years. Seem a far more decent bunch than previous years mind and I like to see Pickford and DCL do well.
