On a side note.

All this trouble from English fans going on. I wonder how many of them are actual ticket holders and how many of them are just yobs who jumped on the eurostar to get drunk and cause trouble for a laugh?

What's the difference?, still English aren't they?.....

Thousands of fans from other countries travelling to France with and without tickets, and no reports of any trouble....

Or not enough

P.S Dier is the 8th Spurs player to score for England at a major finals. More than any other team. I also think we have had more players represent Elnglad than any other team.

Should call them Yidland.
Without Martinez being our manager, Barkley, Stones and Baines would have started tonight, Barkley for Lallana and we'd have won given the chances he wasted.

I have always firmly believed Hodgson got the job because he was a yes man. Granted he had plenty of experience so was a good choice in that respect but I said at the time he got appointed he was only picked to follow orders.

Namely his main objective was blooding all the youngsters and bringing in a new generation rather than sticking with the same players, which is exactly what he has done.

Because we English are tits if you look beyond the stereotypical ones.

What I mean is if this tournament was held in Russia, or Belgium or Spain or anywhere else then there would be no trouble. But the fact megabus can drive you there for a tenner, a lot of these tits probably thought it would be a right laugh to get drunk there, Apr all patriotic and soak in the atmosphere.

Not saying all English are tits, but there is plenty of them who would see a trip accross to France as a opportunity to do it being only next door. Funny how you don't get this from the genuine English fans who travel elsewhere.

I worry it will happen against the Welsh as well.

Are I understand Ross being behind the current ones. He wasn't very good the last few months of the season, mainly through being tired and dier with Ali were still title chasing midfielders. But as an impact sub, same as vardy, he can bring so much to change a game in a instant.

Oh I agree. But I think Woy still thinks he's too risky over all the other players.

Its why Ali is playing deeper as he's probably less of a risk taker there, and we're short of options. But to me that's hurting his game at this moment.

I think you are being a little bit harsh with your criticism of the England performance. Personally I thought it was an excellent start to Englands Euro campaign. I'm WELSH
Despite my criticism of Hodgson above, it was a good performance. Hodgson failed to turn the screw on Russia, Sterling was woeful, and his subs were desperately poor. But the other players, especially Walker, Dier, Rooney, can't fault them.

Yep obvious from tonight Barkley has no chance of playing...

Don't think he's had a good season, but that being said , Hodgson is like an agent for the Big Clubs.....if you play for the bigger clubs, even if your no good, you'll get picked for England....even Stones being left out tonight is probably Woys way of telling him he needs to join City or Chelsea his summer...

You have to play him to his strengths. Other players are getting away with playing in positions they're not comfortable with but overall hurts their game over 90mins.

Same with Vardy and Sturridge.

Can see where you're coming from, but wasn't there awful trouble in Belgium in 2000? The original water cannon moment. I think what you're saying is its the fact it's easy to get to the host nation, be in France, Belgium, Netherlands, which encourages the casual hooligan to tag onto the genuine fan contingent.

Well worryingly, the next World cup is in Russia....clearly they have a lot to answer for in today's violence.....doesn't bode well for that tournament....

We'll see what happens when the Russians meet the Welsh....but the English always seem to cause trouble or attract it....

Bottom line...for all the "positives" being thrown about, the only person who scored for us was a defensive midfielder from a set piece.

That's not good enough.

Thought we offered very, very little from the full backs in an attacking sense, and Lallana, Sterling and Kane were very poor indeed, particularly Sterling. He was abysmal. At the end of the day it boils down to the manager making such baffling selections. Wales will beat England, I am sure of it.

If Slovakia get the first goal against England they could be (England) as good as out of the tournament.

Hodgson said post-match that he replaced Rooney because he was tiring.

He didn't look tired to me, he looked a bit annoyed to be coming off.

Seems strange, bringing off your most experienced, successful player (also the captain) when you're defending a slim league in the biggest international game for two years.
