Green Shoots

I hope the green shoots survive us being pummeled by the Red Rats at Goodison and them securing the title at our gaafe.

I have been well inoculated from optimism

We’re still only weeks out from what I considered to be one of the worst performances in our history in the cup. Everton winning games that don’t matter after we’ve already botched our season is nothing new, we did it last two seasons as well. Of this lot drag themselves into a europa place by winning a few crunch games, win away at a top 6 ground, or god forbid beat Liverpool then I might say we’ve started to turn the corner. Two away wins in 7 games is also very promising considering we used to win about three a season. Pumping dross teams to finish 8th is nothing new for this group of players, they have to show us something different.

Completely agreed. Remember similar things being said last season and then we go away to Fulham and get destroyed by a team already relegated.

I haven't seen anything to suggest a mentality shift yet especially after Newcastle injury time at home just 2 weeks ago.

They need to win crunch games and get into Europe to convince me until then everyone is just fantasising.

For the record we have a proper manager for the first time in years.. but it’s way too soon to say a new dawn has commenced... I held huge hope for the start of this season and saw those burst like that final run just never happened..

So whether we finish 7th or 15th this season makes no difference to how we will start next. We’re out this season and for me summer can’t come fast enough to see what Carlo and Brands will do in the market.

Keep picking up the wins and take the momentum into next season. The scum were odds on to have the season they're having this time around after the way they finished last season and Leicester were smashing teams the last 3rd or so of the season before they won it.

However we're Everton and nothing good like that happens to us :(

If that happens, it happens, we need to show a bit of class and just go home at the end, no booing etc. If ever a team has deserved the title it is this one. We need to stop focusing on them and focus on ourselves, I‘ve lived most of my adult full of hatred and envy for them, and it’s done none of them any harm, and (on the whole) made my support of Everton a mostly unhappy time.
so, lesson learned, they look great at the moment, good on them, I want us to look as great and that is what I intend to focus on going forward! COYBB

Let’s see what happens, we have a fantastic manager in place but the team, honestly, is crap. A lot of outs in the summer and a few good footballers in, who knows.. the club should be doing it’s very best to strive for better on the pitch especially with liverpool inevitably winning the league. Could turn very nasty if work isn’t being done in the summer.

To get the monkey off the back of not coming back to win after going behind is a fairly seismic change.

Definitely positives but we just have to kick on from here and then at the start of next season when we have everything to play for to not go back into a comatose shell.

We're till in new manager bounce territory so is it genuine betterment or just the usual temporary upturn?

It's a phoney war till the end of the season being out of both cups and we may or may not emerge from the dross of this division to snaffle a euro place but it's just papering over the cracks. Monumental improvement in personnel required at this club and if it doesn't happen CA will be under pressure quicker than you can sing "just one Carletto" (to the "O Sole Mio" tune)
Barry Rathbone with the red rectangle there. What he do?
