Greek Financial Crisis

Could well truly arrive on July 1st.

I still think they will find an agreement that will see them bailed out for now, but still think they will default eventually.

Brilliant country, lovely people and not their fault!

Of course it's their fault. They avoid tax, have a bloated public sector and pay themselves too much in pensions. They are basically just borrowing off every other country to pay themselves more than they earn. They will now go bankrupt and fail to pay anything back. Bunch of freeloaders.........

Given what the Greeks have contributed in terms of culture we are in debt to them, apparently.

That's the heavy irony. There is little difference in situations around the world, the methodology changes but the the intent is identical, rob the poor to fatten the rich.

Anyone that genuinely doesn't believe that to be the case basically doesn't have the ability to think for themselves, or is indoctrinated into the capitalist way wholeheartedly or is in a position within their society where they feel unaffected, for the time being.

Or they don't give a flying one which is all 3 of the above.
You almost make it sound like a bad thing

Feckin Greeks. They invented gayness.
indeed. Men did not have bumholes until

At least Greece not have a proper Economist in charge of their economy now unlike the UK.
Gideon with his 2:1 in Modern history. MODERN HISTORY, the guy couldn't even get a first in the the bits he's lived through let alone proper history.

And yet Zuckerberg, Jobs, Gates, Disney et al all dropped out of uni and did ok. Heck, Lincoln didn't even finish high school. University isn't the be all and end all :)

Helps to know a bit about economics if you're running an economy.

I have my doubts that Gideon can tie his own shoelaces the coked up little bully.

There's something odd about those examples Bruce, and i'm not on about the exclusion of Einstein like!

Back on topic, and admittedly they did take bumming to a level that GOT can only aspire to attain, maybe they need a Lycurgus?

plus the ones you are talking about started businesses (like millions of other people who didn't go to Uni) and ended up being in the right place at the right time with the right product (unlike the rest of the millions who do less well than those mentioned). Government is a different thing. It's about picking the best person for the job (and I agree not necessarily the most qualified), Gideon not only has little or no background in the subject, he shows no aptitude for the job either.

Oh I know, was just making conversation really. It would make sense for anyone in high office to have some experience of the thing they're overseeing, but I'm sure he has plenty of advisors that are sufficiently such.

Plumbin' & Bummin' and of course Lesbianism.

I like the 'arl Bubbles myself having spent quite a few holidays and a couple of summers over there & in the main they like us, there is a deep seated hatred to this day of Germany and I think that they probably view the E.U. and the refusal to pay any of the loans back as getting their own back on the Germans a little bit. Their Tourist Economy these days it seems is driven by the Rouble which has seen businesses taken over and the Islands becoming Russian Summer Havens, no doubt bringing a whole set of problems to their lives that they 'controlled' themselves before.
They probably hanker after the lives they had 20 years ago, with foreign visitors a plenty all arriving and finding it an affordable place to visit and splashing the cash around, I remember when Sweden had a referendum and opted NOT to join the EU and take on the Euro and join the ERM that their currency took a major hit and one summer they all arrived with everything costing 3 & 4 times what it did the year before.... the year after they stayed away completely.

i reckon the Greeks just want things to go back to how they were, and tbh I cant blame them either AND would like to be able to go there again and it be affordable as I rate it up there at the top of Summer Destinations.

Haha, you've opened a right can of politco-sociological worms with this mate, i'll probably leave you to it like ;)

Probably ones of his ilk though that have absolutely no concept of 'the common man' and the effects of the policies that he introduces, the evidence suggests that because it's the folk that don't need the helping hand that seem to benefit from 'his' decisions, there's something wrong with a decision that gives 1 fella more than a 100,000 fellas. He outright refuses to acknowledge what is going on at the bottom end of the wage scale in this country where workers are being supported with state help(subsidising the Companies) and having to watch every penny that they spend, and the evidence of that is that he announces cuts that make it even more difficult for them to survive.
