Remember that year we sold Yakubu, Arteta and Beckford and brought in Straq on loan?

Oh yeah, that was HEAPS better!

That window was shocking:

IN:
Hanneman
McFadden
Drenthe (loan)
Straq (loan)

OUT:
Vaughan
Arteta
Yakubu
Beckford
and a host of others

January was a bit better...but what a dire window that was.

Lukaku, Eto'o, Besic, Barry.

Nothing compares. Nothing.

To you ... *sheds tear*

I think you're taking the fact we're "The Blues" a little too seriously. Please see a doctor, you have a worryingly thin grasp on reality.

B- on average, I do think that the lack of experienced cover at CB will cost us so grades should be given for the third across the park:

Strikers: A+++
Midfielders: A-/B+
Defenders: F (unless Galloway becomes half rock half beast, but at the moment it's an F)

Like this way of grading.

Strikers: A+

Lukaku and Samuel Freaking Eto'o, and some youth. Present and future sorted.

Midfield: A-

Bešić, Barry and Atsu in. Extended Barkley and McCarthy. Would have been good to extend Mirallas too.

Defence: B-

Signed some youth. Extended Coleman, Stones and Hibbert. Lost Duffy. Current unit performance is below par, but that should be fixed internally. Something to revisit in January if necessary.

Goalkeeper: N/A

No action except signed a youth (?). Howard has lost some form, and Robles looks shakey but needs some time.

That would make my overall grade: A- (not an average).

Yes my initial C+ was a little off in reflection. Must of been the time of morning! Think B+ is more accurate.

Although to get 4th this season bobby needed to pull off a (A) which by leaving the defensive cover so frail he's not done unfortunately.

I can understand people being a little put off by our lack of action in the last 24 hours. I'm sure we tried.

You've got to take the last 2 consideration, it's a WINDOW, not a day, and overall, nobody will find me a better window.

You can't be disappointed can you?

Arguably our best window ever.

Yes, a defender would have been nice, but until the last 2 weeks hardly anyone put that as a priority.

And we have Sammy Ets FFS.

SAMMY ETS

The Andy Johnson, Joleon Lescott one was the last ace one I remember.

But they didn't have Sammy Ets.

I struggle to remember who came in when, but never have we seen an Eto'o like capture since Kanchelskis? Could be wrong.

Could someone do an ins and outs by window?

It would be good to compare.

It was boss lads. Some of you need to stop chatting bobbins. I'm actually a bit chuffed we didn't sign anyone on the sky branded deadline day, we actually did our business early for once!

It's still far too early to judge this wondow, surely? I am firmly of the belief that this is the most optimistic I've ever felt the day after the transfer deadline, but that optimism will be justified or proved misplaced by the results over the next 38 weeks.

I do worry that we don't have a sutiable backup for Coleman. Sure we have some players who provide depth at RB, but none of them are equipped to play the position the way Seamus does. On the left we have a better scenario - if Baines is unavailable, Oviedo steps in and there is almost no drop-off in terms of performance. On the right however.... time will tell.

I voted B+ in the poll. The sum spent does not matter to me, provided we don't overspend and put ourselves in financial jeopardy; I'm more concerned that our needs be addressed. On that basis, I'm pretty happy.

1) Eto'o and Lukaku in means we now aren't short of quality strikers AND we are ok if Kone stays injured
2) Atsu in means we have a bit of depth on RW that we didn't have after Del left.
3) Barry and Besic in means we are less vulnerable if Gibson gets injured again

Going forward we need to be mindful of:
Howard, Hibbert, Osman, Jags, Pienaar, Distin, Barry and Eto'o all at an age where we must at least identify suitable replacements ready for promotion from the youth ranks. We have taken some small steps in making our first eleven less reliant on these players, and in doing so we've built a stronger squad. Stones, Besic, Barkley, and Lukaku are all under 22 and I expect Stones and Besic to be first XI regulars within 18 months: that's a GREAT young spine for the next six or seven years, and this window has been part of that process.

Recycled the cash brought in by Martinez last season and added another £16/17M to it out of the £30M the club received from the extra tv cash. Out of that, last season's team was consolidated. We are left short of real cover for RB and have Stones standing between us and a collapsing season at the hands of two men well into their 30's (one hurtling toward 40).

Record signing, yes. Top quality exciting marquee signing in Eto'o, yes. But we have come out of that window completely exposed. How anyone can be delighted with it I honestly dont know, and I expect that attitude to change when the season resumes and we continue to struggle to find form.

Bottom line is that this lot penny pinched again and failed us miserably. Regardless of what you think of the player, the Cleverly haggling was just typical Everton clown shoes hierarchy games to save a few quid and the custard pie was duly delivered into their stupid faces.
