In net terms, Everton were the 7th highest spenders in world football during the transfer window.

Only Man Utd, Barcelona, Liverpool, Arsenal, Borussia Dortmund and PSG spent more money than us.

We could have done with a right back and swerved giving a contract to Hibbert, and there's an argument to say we could have done with another centre half (although I'm refusing to be too knee jerk about Jagielka and Distin after three games), but all in all we've kept everyone we wanted to keep and bought in most of the areas we needed to.

B+ for me

Recycled the cash brought in by Martinez last season and added another £16/17M to it out of the £30M the club received from the extra tv cash. Out of that, last season's team was consolidated. We are left short of real cover for RB and have Stones standing between us and a collapsing season at the hands of two men well into their 30's (one hurtling toward 40).

Record signing, yes. Top quality exciting marquee signing in Eto'o, yes. But we have come out of that window completely exposed. How anyone can be delighted with it I honestly dont know, and I expect that attitude to change when the season resumes and we continue to struggle to find form.

Bottom line is that this lot penny pinched again and failed us miserably. Regardless of what you think of the player, the Cleverly haggling was just typical Everton clown shoes hierarchy games to save a few quid and the custard pie was duly delivered into their stupid faces.

Dave, name a better window.

You can't.

Solid A. Just needed one more to be an A+.

Looking at our squad on July the 1st, we've come on leaps and bounds and spent well over £30m without selling anyone of note. Brilliant window.

I cant, you're right. Which is what makes it so frightening.

Haha there is that!

I didn't mean that all's well at Everton FC, but frankly we should be buzzing that we went through a window without anyone being flogged off, let alone bringing in some genuine world class talent.

The defence, sure it looks a bit worrying at the moment, but you don't lose class overnight, Jags and Distin have it in spades, and Stones to boot. None of us saw that issue coming a week or two ago.

I'm dead chuffed, considering the circumstances and what we have to work with, with what we have done in the summer.

Over 50% of GOT voters have it as A- to A+, so it would appear that more than half the fanbase fundamentally disagree with you.

From the end of last season we substantially added Eto'o, Besic and Atsu to a relistic first team core we can use. We lost Deulofeu. That's two up on last season when, I think I can safely say without fear of contradiction, we all felt we required a boost of say 5/6/7 players - depending on your particular viewpoint.

We never came close to that. And the backline looks less than solid with practically no cover apart from Stones and Oviedo (when he gets back from his injury).

All the pollyanna comments concerning how great it's been this summer simply cant cut through those realities.

Well I'm happy with it.

What out of touch with reality fans could have expected us to have done better?
Two over and above last season added to the first team core of players we'll use.

The vast majority expected better than that.

I voted A- prior to Atsu and Eto'o. Goes up to an A, I'd love to give an A+, but I still feel we lack cover for Coleman at RB cover. Not worried about CB at this stage, but we can revisit it in January if the issue persists (which it won't, at least not to this extent).
Anyone who voted a B- or below is going on my ignore. What do you expect, this has been the best window in all the ones we've had. Not only have we retained most of our key players for the future on long term contracts in Ross, Stonesy and Seamus, we've also retained our key loans by breaking our transfer record in signing Lukaku up for 5 years and brought in an experienced midfield head in Barry.
We've then brought in a promising midfielder in Besic for pennies, Galloway who looks like one for the future, and Atsu in a loan to buy to replace Deulofeu.
Then to top it all off we signed up Eto'o sorting our hole in the striking position well and truly.
The only areas where I'd like us to look towards would be the renewal of Mirallas's contract, and that RB cover, although Ty Browning may have than under wraps (haven't seen enough of the kid there).
