ok here are possible outcomes of the rumble
there have been 28 royal rumbles
there have been 2 joint winners, however on the most recent occassions in 2005 Vince mcmahon ordered that there must be a champion and batista subsequently tossed cena out the ring when the match restarted (that was a funny moment cos vince tore both his quads upon entering the ring and fell over like a clown)
could there be a joint winner? possibly, if so I could imagine that one of those winners would be Roman Reigns and the other being Brock Lesnar with maybe a match at wrestlemania to decide who keeps the title....unlikely but possible
Stone Cold Steve Austin holds the most royal rumble wins with 3
No one on the current roster can match it or beat it as Cena is out injured. So there won't be any record set in that respect.
People who could potentially win it for a second time are Roman Reigns, Sheamus, Alberto Del Rio, Randy Orton (if he makes a shock return), The Undertaker (if he makes a shock return), Brock Lesnar and Triple H (if he makes a shock return).
If Roman Reigns were to win it again, he'd only be the third wwe superstar to win the competition in consecutive years after Shawn Michaels and Stone Cold Steve Austin and the first to achieve that feat since 1998.
Could WWE decide that now is the right time to have a back to back winner after 18 years? Who knows...
The longest time spent in a Royal Rumble - currently the holder of that accolade is Rey Mysterio with a mighty 1 hour 2 minutes and 12 seconds. Rey Mysterio was the number 2 entrant that year (2006) and ended up not only winning the Royal Rumble but setting that time record.
Could WWE decide to go one better with Reigns hence why he is the number 1 entrant? Are they planning on him 1. winning the royal rumble and 2. doing so whilst setting a new record for being in the event the longest time.
Lets face it, WWE are not going to put reigns as the current champ, with the title on the line, for him to get eliminated after 10-15 minutes, he will definately be near the end. WWE have been building him up for months now as a resilient machine who is impossible to eliminate even in the most adverse situations (i.e vince being the referee and being corrupt).
In most years there is always 1 WWE superstar who is eliminated early and is easily expendible for the amusement of the WWE universe. The quickest elimination award goes to Santino Marella who lasted an almighty 1 second in 2009. I doubt that WWE have any plans to better that record but you never know, could they try and claim a 0.5 second elimination? it would be very difficult to pull it off but im sure they could try with someone like el torito who would be easy to eliminate in such a manner, just pick him up and chuck him out.
In 2014 WWE decided to break a longstanding record that had been held by Kane since 2001 which was most eliminations in a royal rumble - and funnily enough that accolade now belongs to Roman Reigns. I believe Roman Reigns was the 15th entrant in the rumble that year and still managed to eliminate 12 other people.
Could WWE be looking to break that record again with reigns AGAIN? as the number 1 entrant its very possible that reigns could easily break that record.
WWE has only ever had 3 female entrants in the Royal Rumble - the last being Kharma in 2012. With the 'Diva's Revolution' could we see a Diva in the rumble? Potentially and if so whom? It could easily be one of the Bella twins, Charlotte, Sasha Banks, Paige or maybe WWE could play a twist and debut Bayley into the WWE via the rumble?
Only 2 wrestlers have ever won the Royal Rumble being the number 1 entrant. The first is Shawn Michaels in 1995 and that latter being Chris Benoit in 2004 (shh don't say his name loudly). Could Reigns join this list? It has been 12 years since it last happened and it is possible to win as the number 1 entrant. My only hesitance with this happening is that if Reigns were to win the Royal Rumble there would have to be some reference to the last person who accomplished such a feat and that would therefore mean having to reference Chris Benoit who the WWE do not want to talk about or avoid talking about if at all possible.
In the last 10 years only 2 WWE superstars have won the Royal Rumble below entry number 19. Rey Mysterio in 2006 as the number 2 entrant and Randy Orton in as the number 8 entrant in 2009. Could it be time for a royal rumble winner who started the rumble near the start?
No matter what records are there to be broken or what happens the Royal Rumble is a spectacle to behold and is fun and exciting to watch. My personal highlight every year is seeing what Kofi Kingston will do to try and avoid being eliminated in the most bizzare and eccentric manners.
I would like there to be a twist, i.e. undertaker wins the rumble but unfortunately WWE creative do not appear to be 'creative' these days which is ironic in itself and im sure they have gone for something very predictable but we shall wait and see.
NXT Taping spoiler!
you have issues lad .I really do want to stay up and watch it tonight.
But if its crap or reigns wins it then I will be fuming in work on 3 hours sleep for being tricked into it.
