Lifted from Reddit but this says it all it needs about the current state of RAW.
On the latest podcast, Dave Meltzer says even people inside the company laugh at the 50/50 booking, calling it the 500 club.
So they were talking today about RAW, and how after a victory on PPV (like Tyler's over Ziggler, how they then just undo any momentum gained by having them beat the next night. Admittedly I think Ambrose pinned Tyler, but it's a constant stream of you win on PPV, then you lost in the next few days (unless you're Barrett). I remember Sheamus also beat Orton at Summerslam, only to just lose the next night on RAW.
Anyway what I found fascinating is that he actually says producers INSIDE the company laugh at it. Here's the quote, typed up as best as I could. I've tried not to warp it or take it out of context too much:
"I know people in the company, it's like a joke in the company among the producers, we call it the 50/50 club, they call it the 500 club. It's basically the exact same thing. It's the 50/50 club. Austin talks about it and Jim Ross talks about it and you're never gonna get anyone over, unless it's like The Rock or something, if they're gonna be in the 50/50 club. And yet everyone's in the 50/50 club."
It wasn't clear if he was saying that the higher ups just laugh because everyone is at 50/50, they know it's bad and do it anyway, or if there are those who think it shouldn't be 50/50 but sorta laugh and shake their head because there's nothing they can do about it, because those above them do what they want.
Stone Cold has said for ages now that the wins and losses matter in how fans view a character. It's so out of touch with how it should be run/booked atm.
Look at NXT, if you win you're made to look strong, you lose and you can be set on a revenge storyline. I'm not saying Hunter should take over next week and it'll be fine but it needs a huge overhaul. Basically how the Attitude Era started with Vince giving up and starting again.
That's what we need, someone to hit the reset button.
"We, in the WWF, think that you, the audience, are quite frankly, tired of having your "intelligence insulted". We also think that you're tired of the same old simplistic theory of "Good Guys VS Bad Guys". Surely the era of "The super-hero urge you to say your prayers and take your vitamins" is definitely, passe."
Ha.
