You know what chaps my ass? Grown men who watch professional wrestling. Now I can admit I used to watch wrestling almost religiously. It was the best thing on tv and I waited all week for Monday night to roll around so I could see what Hulk Hogan was up to. But I was a kid at the time.
It wasn’t too long ago I was at work and I caught a conversation between two grown men, each much older than me, about what had happened on WWE the night before. Now I won’t judge if watching half naked dudes rub and crawl all over each other is your thing, but what struck me as odd was the amount of passion these grown men had for the subject. They were referring to the wrestlers as if they were real people, I’m not sure these middle aged men realize the personalities they see on TV are characters. I can understand getting into a favorite TV show, but these guys were talking like the wrestlers were personal friends, and the struggles they faced in the ring were truly a matter of life and death.
I guess wrestling is better than reality tv, but its still sad to see any adult this emotionally invested in a tv show. If you want to watch wrestling, thats fine. If you want to discuss wrestling as though its a real world event, thats fine. But you should at least acknowledge that its just a tv show and have enough self respect to only have these tirades about what an ass hole Vince McMahon is in private. Then the rest of the world won’t be forced to realize just how developmentally challenged you are.
