GOT Wrestle Fest Fan Thread

It will be mate. Not to Brock Goldberg levels but it will be slow. Damn slow.

Has Sting said a bloody word yet!?

God, I remember the disappointment of the Brock/Goldberg match. Just weird.

Sting's said nothing, he just stands there whilst Triple H rips the crap out of him. The whole thing's a terrible idea IMO.

Sting Undertaker last year would have been good. Not for the match but the build up would have been good.

Wyatt Undertaker would have made more sense last year too.

They're all just backwards.

Sting vs HHH will be fine. Sting was wrestling in TNA up to last year and was perfectly fine in the ring.

Age 56 is nothing - Ric Flair was aged 59 when he faced Shawn Michaels at WM24 in 2008, and Ricky Steamboat was aged 56 when he faced Chris Jericho at WM25 and at multiple ppvs in 2009.

Hell, Diamond Dallas Page is 59 in April, and was in this year's Royal Rumble giving lots of people the Diamond Cutter.

Plus the fact it's not real anyway......

Still lots of jumping up and down and landing on your back and knees mate. Something the 'But it's fake!!!1111' crowd always overlook.

We're talking about performance art, not real fights.
Meh..... Learn how to fall properly and you're ok..... It's all choreographed so as not to hurt.....6 months training and you could do it easily.

LOL. That's like saying footballers should never get injuries because all they're doing is running around and kicking a ball.

If you were a fan you'd know there's far more to it - timing, cardio, instincts, improv, playing off a crowd, memorising a list of physical moves to do in sequence, making stuff look as a real as possible, making people believe, protecting your opponent, protecting yourself.

There are huge differences between bad matches, average matches, and extremely good matches. It takes years of practice for 99% of wrestlers to reach 'great', and only a handful reach that level.

The very best wrestlers don't choreograph matches, they do what's called 'call it in the ring', i.e. go to the ring with nothing planned, and use their wrestling skill set to create a physical match on the fly, totally improvised, working only towards a planned outcome. All of this governed by the mood of the crowd and who they're cheering/booing for.

It's actually quite a fascinating, unique performance art, that has far more depth to it than just 'It's all fake!!!'.

'It's all fake!!!' applies to pre-taped/multi-taped stuntwork in tv programmes and films. Not live wrestling matches performed before huge crowds of thousands.
