GOT Wrestle Fest Fan Thread

He was working behind the scenes. He said 2 weeks ago, on a stage about 6 feet in front of me in Manchester, that he had no intention of retiring any time soon, as he loved his backstage role working within NXT developmental and scouting new WWE talent too much.

This is a punishment firing dressed up a retirement to allow him a dignified exit.

You don't do such a massive u-turn in 2 weeks, unless he was lying to us all in his one man speaking show, which - why would he do that?

Yeah but since when has Vince given a damn about giving someone a dignified send off? Especially JR, Vince seemed to take evry chance he could to humiliate him.

True, but instead of saying 'Jim Ross is released, we wish him the best in his future endeavours', it's all over WWE.com about how he is retiring. Which, based on what he said 2 weeks ago, doesn't add up at all.

For those who never saw the video, this is basically what got him fired, the hosting of this video game hype show where he allowed Ric Flair to go off the rails, ranting and talking about his late son.

Ignore the video title, he states at the beginning he isn't drunk and his weird voice is a side effect of his Bells Palsy when he gets tired.

From JR:

*It's been quite a day. September 11, 2013 was my last day in WWE. *

*Its hard to believe that It was over 20 years ago when i debuted in
WWE at WM9 & my first ever WWE assignment was doing play by play w/ the
great, Bobby Heenan and the unpredictable Macho Man Randy Savage. *

*Time flies when one is enjoying one 's dream job. Heck, it only took me 19
years ti make it to the NFL of sports entertainment. Overnight sensation,
right?*

*So, at the age if 61 it's time to close this chapter of my life and begin
exploring new, adventures while my health is great.*

*I wouldn't have changed a thing in WWE except I wish that I'd been able to
avoid some health issues along the way. That was the hand that I was dealt
and I simply refused to fold it. *

*Other that health issues my 'run' in WWE has exceeded my wildest dreams. *

*I was fortunate enough to have a key role in arguably one of the most
interesting and compelling eras in our business's history. *

*Hmmmm....perhaps a book is in order some day. Time will tell. Now I
actually have the time to write the autobiography many have asked about
over the years. *

*For the record, I'm not purchasing a rocking chair so I'm not "going away."
I have many interests & I plan on exploring them all. *

*In the meantime, I hope you'll continue to support my family's online
shopping efforts at http://www.wweshop.com [1] and in UK at
http://www.americansoda.co.uk [2]. *

*Follow the next chapters in my life, that are yet to be written, on
Twitter @JRsBBQ. *

*You guys are the best....thanks!*

Anyone who thinks JR 'retiring' is his decision - think about this: if someone like him was really retiring, don't you think WWE would make a massive deal out of it, on at least one of their tv shows, have him call a final match/show, have a retirement ceremony for him, make a big celebration out of it? Of course they would. They're not going to though, because this is a firing in all but name. He went abruptly; he was fired 2 days before he was supposed to be attending the latest NXT tapings in Florida on Thursday.

The whole thing stinks, but that Vince's love/hate treatment of JR all over, humiliated him many times over the years.

If Vince had the chance when JR retired for real he'd pretend to give him a proper send off but "work" him and have Mae Young come out, pull JR's pants down and have HHH pedigree him or something.

If Vince wanted to fire him again he would. JR was probably thinking about retiring at some point and being told he was being let go made his mind up for him.

He'll probably be back at some point though of course.
