GOT Wrestle Fest Fan Thread

Interestingly I quite liked the Taker Punk bit. When he dropped the Urn it tickled me.

But none of the the big matches, probably bar Del Rio and Swagger have been built up that well.

What exactly was the point of the Young Cena match? Utterly pointless.

At least the Henry Ryback match has a bit of heat behind it. Match won't be great, but at least it's interesting.

I think my main problem is that the main event guys don't have normal matched on Raw or SD. HHH, Taker, Brock, and Rock only have a match at the PPV. That's pathetic. How can a young fan grow to like these older guys if they never see them in action week by week?
I understand circumstances and other comitments mean they can't always be there but if they are at the show, put them in a match. Anything. Just to build up some form before the big PPV match.

Oh....I've ranted.

The other side to that coin of course is that if you have them wrestling on TV each week they cease to become special attractions and PPV buy rates will drop. That's the fear anyway

Well not every week. Like HHH i'll use as my example.

What would be the harm in him having a match on Raw last week?

It could be they don't want to risk injury before 'mania thinking about it more.

It just grinds me.

I remember old build ups and you had everyone fighting everyone. Was boss.

I actually prefer the "don't let them touch until the pay per view build" because it makes you appreciate it more when they do fight. I remember every Austin feud was "He gets beat up one week and then comes back the next week and beats the other guy up with a chair, so next week that guy attacks him with two chairs, so Austin comes out the next week in a tank etc etc etc", it just got a bit tiresome after a while.

I'm fine with Cena/Rock and HHH/Brock getting physical just because we've seen them fight already but I don't think Taker should touch Punk until 'Mania. Meanwhile, they can have Punk get more and more vile so that you REALLY want to see it when they do fight.

I think they've gone overboard with the "Swagger mauls Alberto" stuff too. Especially because you can guess that ALberto is going to get to Swagger before 'Mania. They needed to do something to heat this one up but I think they've gone too far.

I think they should certainly do some sort of 6 man on the go home Raw though that has Rock and Cena on the same side

I know what you mean. But with all of them not seeing actions it's a bit silly for me.

It's not like they have a stipulation where they can't touch or attack before mania is it? That's been done in the past.

The WWE needs to bring in fresh new talent rather than rely on the old-stagers. The art is in bringing in the right new talent. They have done it so well for so many years, but nothing seems to be coming through at the moment that is getting the viewers talking positively.

Bit of a dip in standards and it could take a while to recover. Just my take on it lads.

The womens division? The tag team belt fell off the radar until they formed Hell No. Even the latest theme music has no get up and go to it.

Just watched Smackdown.

The girl talking about the forthcoming world tour...not bad looking, nice dress, but did you see her knees??!!

They are mans knees! Cover your knees love!

Does anyone here ever go on Scott Keiths blog? Some really good Q & A stuff on there (www.rspwfaq.net)

Scott, hope I don't get the Fuj email treatment and this gets posted.

Was reading Keller and he makes a very interesting suggestion on Rocks drawing power and last years mega WM buyrate that I want the dooms opinion on.

While the Rock gets most of the credit for 28s record buys, Kellers theory is that in in actuality not having a UFC PPV within like 2 months of mania was what made the difference between a decent buyrate and the record breaker we got, NOT the Rock. The idea obviously is that the companies share a fair amount of fans and most of those fans have to choose between WWE and UFC most months since we're not dropping a 120+ a month just on PPVs. Since UFC was nowhere in site last year during mania all those fans just gave Vince their money.

I originally scoffed at the idea since I didnt think they competed that much in PPV and since we're programmed to think of Rock as the biggest draw left in wrestling, but all of Rocks other headlining PPVs since his return have been disappointing (atrocious Survivor Series, disappointing Royal Rumble, and assumed disappointing EC.), so this theory tends to hold water in that regard.

Thought??? Thanks!

PS...have u looked at the trend in UFCs buyrates last few years? There's a big drop that coincides at the time Brock was leaving. Not the biggest UFC fan so don't know if there's more to it.

I don't think it's exactly a newsflash that UFC cuts into WWE buyrates. In fact most of the failure of WM27 was attributed to the GSP-Hardy show the night before. Really, Vince is the only person left who HASN'T made that connection and who won't admit that UFC is competition.

And Royal Rumble wasn't disappointing, it was just not as profitable as it should have been. Big difference.

Thought the guy made a good point there to be honest. The GSP show might bite into the Mania buy rate

Sounds a woeful Raw.

I just effing hate Cena, and even though he's showing signs of heel it's not enough.

However, as Mikey says, mania will be an event. It won't be THAT bad. But it's not looking great.

Quite sad really. They seem to have run out of ideas, despite the fact all of us could have made a better card and a better build up for this.

The problem was that they had the whole undercard booked about 2 months ago and then one week Vince just changed everything, which is pretty much what happened at Mania 22 as well.

It's not as bad as Mania 13 though, which seemed to be booked on a napkin at a Nando's the week before the show
