Listening to the hall of fame stories most of them say that they had to come up with their own gimmicks or they were given a gimmick but were allowed input

Bret Hart said he was given a cowboy gimmick and he refused it and wanted to form the hart foundation instead and in the end they went with his idea.

Surely they would have consulted the wrestlers about the name change and they would have had some input into the new name?
