GOT Wrestle Fest Fan Thread

So just so we're clear, John Cena would rather sit with the fans at Wrestlemania than enter and win the Andre the Giant Battle Royal.......prestigious indeed

Quite funny one moment from last night.

considering WWE are booking lesnar reigns in a way to put reigns over as the guy who is always there, and brock to be the bad buy who doesn't care (rehash alert), it is clearly backfiring.

When Reigns was tipped off the stretcher, the fans were chanting 'you deserve it' to him lol

they are going to have to make lesnar disown the company literally before mania otherwise reigns isn't getting the reaction they want for him winning.

This match might end up opening Wrestlemania yet this year, coz the fans are gonna crap all over it, it certainly isnt gonna headline...

Cena v Taker closes the show, but Ronda/Angle vs HHH/Steph is probably that midpoint match, with AJ vs Nakamura maybe 3rd last, Flair vs Azuka maybe sub headliner...

Pretty stacked card when you think about,

Daniel Bryan/Shane vs Owens/Sami
Rollins vs Miz vs Balor
Bliss vs Jax
Orton vs Roode vs Jinder
Strowman vs The Bar
New Day vs Usos vs B Brothers
Womens Battle Royal
Mens Battle Royal
Possible Matt Hardy vs Wyatt?
Cruiserweight title match

Why on earth have they announced Bryan has been cleared?! Don’t announce it and have him come out as a surprise at Mania.

They’ll have done it for short term ratings boosts for Smackdown. Idiots

If they did it as a surprise, they wouldn't get the buyrate out of it for the PPV, because nobody would know it was happening. It also would risk narratively making little sense.

They'd have been idiots not to do it the way they have. Very good booking, which has gave Owens and Zayn the extra rub as heels too.

If anyone has heard of the old whatculture line up videos on youtube it is quite intriguing that they are currently following one of their how to book videos by the sex pest adam blampierd.

Basically the video is how to end the streak and turn John cena heel at the same time for double the impact. but the train of the video was john coming out and calling taker out, getting no response and then (in the video) kane answering him and having a match at fastlane before whatever else he says and taker accepts.

so far they are speed running it all! Obviously with no heel turn coming at the end of it.

It’s Mania so PPV buyrate will be fine anyway.

Narrative sense doesn’t usually stop the WWE so not sure why it would matter now but there have been issues with Owens/Zayn already so would work fine storyline wise for him to tag with Shane. Especially given Shane has “stepped down” meaning you could have 3 weeks of Owens/Zayn causing havoc which would anger Bryan.

Bryan coming back as a surprise at Mania would have been huge and could have then lead into a storyline with Owens/Zayn for the following PPVs which will need a buyrate boost.

It’s short termism for the sake of Smackdown ratings. They couldn’t even wait for the show last night to announce it, they did it 4 hours before.

So five star wrestling has already gone under, presumably after losing the Thursday night war to Masterchef!

I must admit that I'm disappointed, yeah the product was crap but it was good to have a show on national tv to highlight British talent. Just a pity 5star was the one to get the opportunity and has effectively destroyed any chance for a British promotion to get national coverage. There's a number of smaller promotions who would of made a better show of this, 5star made a hash of it right from the start.

Have pretty much stopped watching in the last 3 or 4 years...but still long for the nostalgia of the good oul days.

Feel free to respond with your favourite:
1) Tag Team
2) PPV (an entire event that popped)
3) Match (one that stands out)
4) Singles wrestler

*not restricted to wwf/wwe or wcw etc

Having grown up with it in the late 80s / early 90s and returning to it in the attitude era, my picks are as follows;
1) Edge & Christian - excellent in and out of the ring
2) Survivor Series 1990 - tv debut of the undertaker and grand finale match of survivors
3) Hart Foundation v Demolition @ Summerslam 1990 - best two out of three falls for tag titles, LOD run in
4) Stone Cold. Not for technical ability but just to hear that glass smash and crowd erupt.

I'm not a die hard fan like others in the thread but these are mine

1) the Dudleys growing up most probably. They were all boss back then but Dudleys over hardys for their catchphrases.

2) mania 26 for me. Really good show and memorable for taker michaels 2

3) two for me. Punk vs cena where he won the title after the pipebomb and left. Genuinely didn't expect that to happen and it was a positive to the predictable nature of the booking

Or invasion main event back in 2001. I stayed up to watch that on channel 4 and as a much younger self I was genuinely hyped to see that.
4) going back it was undertaker growing up. He was my favourite as a kid.
