GOT TV: "Stekelenburg Was As Good As Southall" | City 1 v 1 Everton

The comment in question wasn't about a complete game. It was about making saves you weren't technically "supposed to". Read back.

In that case every keeper ever has made a save they had no right to.. doing it consistently or regularly means you can be classed as a keeper that makes these saves... not doing it once

He made that save hard for himself with awful positioning and that weird extra step just before Pelle touches it. Any normal keeper stands still on his line and picks that up with minimum fuss.

Where in the F was he supposed to be then? He was off his line properly cutting down the angle. It was a fluke flick that nearly beat him, but where was he supposed to be specifically in real time in that moment?

It was a brilliant save regardless of positioning opinions, but had he been on his line to make it an easy save, then I'd say he was out of position.

Even if you were never in his camp, sometimes you have to admit a blind squirrel can find a nut.

What keeper stands on the line when there is a cross coming?? Or ever when it's not a penalty for that matter.

How was he cutting down the angle by leaving a humongous gap at his near post? You have to admit that save just looks odd, you never see saves like that, because most goalkeepers just stand up and catch a crap effort like that.

Hi all,

Latest edition of GOT TV is out. Myself and Seddo review the City game.

Given the feedback I’ve had, it appears people enjoy the videos more when I have someone to chat to because they can put them on in the background whilst they work or whatever. Moving forward I’ll focus on producing this type of content (I enjoy it more anyway). I’ve actually got some more interesting guests lined up and hopefully a few former players as well!.

Watch here:

Thanks again for being so supportive.

Adam

As good as southhall ! You on glue

Just to confirm, neither myself or @Seddo1984 were saying Stekelenburg is as good as Southall. We were, however, saying that this performance was on par with some of Southall's, which is just a big fat compliment to Stekelenburg.

Please don't read too much into the title, I just wrote that to try to get you to watch

A keeper nailed on the goalline is very exposed in a non-penalty situation. You can't collect a cross from the line.

Keepers don't have to attempt to catch every cross you know. Some crosses you'll never catch, and if you come flying out then you'll be beaten to the ball and just look an even bigger turkey. Aside from that, in the example given Howard is nowhere near even getting close to catching that cross, nor is he in a position to make the comfortable save he should have, he's just in no mans land.

But it's a nonsense statement

As brilliant as Big Nev was - rightly in the top three Everton players ever - he also produced some howlers; so any goalkeeper could produce something "as good as Southall's" if you're taking that broad a brush to it.

But then in your last line, you admit it was click bait. Pretty disappointing
