Goodison Singing Section

I voted no and was going to say it's cringey etc but having read the thread have changed my mind. As long as it doesn't involve drums, megaphones and hymn sheets as I don't think we need that as our away support proves. But a terrace for the likeminded fans who want to show their support in a vocal way would do no harm.
I think it would be great though if the stewards, rather than tellin everyone to sit down or your out, were instructed to spot people not singing and swap them for a more suitable supporter on the outskirts of the singing section.
 
People going on about singing sections like it's a completely new thing, the idea of people who want to sing congregating in one area. Isn't that exactly what would have happened on the old Gwladys Street terrace? It's only since allocated seating came in that stopped people from moving to where they wanted to be inside the ground. I'm all for a singing section because the atmosphere is dying on its arse
 
The more the crowd and myself have sung during a game the more I have enjoyed myself.ive voted yes.The more singing the better.Sometimes I can't be bothered singing but I still like listening.I sometimes feel like I've wasted my money when the atmosphere is dead.win or lose.i can't understand anyone not wanting a better atmosphere,surely that's why people go the game and not watch on tv.
 
I go to goodison for a quiet read, and the occasional chant about Rom.

If I feel like a sing-song I go to the 'sing where the players & opposing fans can't hear you' section on the Glwadys street concourse at half time.

Not sure why it's down there, out of the way, but it does give a bit of atmosphere. Indeed last time I filmed it and played it on my phone on 'speaker' (on full volume) 20 mins into the second half, but it wasn't the same during the match and no-one else joined in.

Sad really.

Point this, back in the 80s we had two singing sections, right in the centre in the back section of the lower street end, and also in the Enclosure in front of the main stand, near the away fans, before the family club went in there.

I'm happy for there to be a dedicated area where people can go to chant, stand, wave banners etc

My experience from going to places like Selhurst Park and Park Head is that they generally help the atmosphere in the rest of the stadium and not just the section they are in

The only problem with a designated singing section is that the club would have to keep an eye on them to make sure they didn't go too far (The Green Brigade and some of their exploits come to mind)

The only issue Celtic have had with the Green Brigade is when political songs get sung, I don't see that arising at Goodison. I say ooooooh, I say aaaaaaaaah, I say up .........................................the Blues, I say ooohaaaaah up the ...Blues:)
 
If there's demand for it then why not?

If lids want to go the game and group together for singing then the club should help facilitate it as there's a sizeable amount who want this.

I know it's normally the done thing to come into these threads and act a tit sneering at the different stands but there's a seemingly nice set of blues wanting this so I wish them well.

I would love if we employed a troupe of rah rah clad cheerleaders to perform in front of the Gladwys for half an hour before kick off.

That would get the buggers out of their seats and loosen them up all right, don't worry about that.

Goodison is a reactive crowd, not a proactive one, so it wouldn't work anyway it'd just be an excuse for these wannabe ultras to pretend theyre on mad ones with the flares etc.

People singing and chanting at a game is a world away from signing hymns in a church. Apart from the rs and man utd games, it has been pretty much 'graveyard Goodoson', like a 3pm Moochy Silence. Listening to the spurs fans take the p*ss , last game of the season was horrible, shall we sing a song for you followed by Its a grand old team, drowning Goodison in Tottenham noise to an almost silent Everton support, was definitely bad for the soul.
 

The whole ground should sing at various points, but not constantly.

If we're not playing well, or the opposition is absoultely world class or snide, then angry Goodison is a wonderful tool and you can't be angry and sing generally.

I don't mean booing Goodison, but angry Goodison is my favourite sometimes.

I wish the club well with the intention if it comes off, but for that reason I'll not be investing today.

When I go to Celtic Park I always sit at the opposite end to the Green Brigade, but the difference they made to the atmosphere was like night and day, also any lull in the play it is quite entertaining watching a section of the ground pulsating like the heartbeat of the support that it can be. It is mostly in the big games that the singing spontaneously spreads throughout the ground.

An angry chant can spread the flames of fume all the more.
 
The atmosphere at Goodison is terrible 99% of the time, there's no denying this so anything that alleviates it can only be a good thing. You only have to look at Crystal Palace and their singing section to see how positive these initiatives can be, the atmosphere at Selhurst is easily the best in the league and importantly their players respond to it. The arl farts calling it small time are the same people who calls anyone who suggests taking flags and banners to the game Kopites, basically, the same people who sit there all game in stone cold silence except to shout abuse at Barkley or Lukaka for being "lazy"
