have we mentioned "touching the void" ???

the two fellas trying to climb the mountain in peru and it gets to the point where one of them has to make the decision to cut the safety rope between them meaning certain death for his chum

it's absolutely gripping
Gunna try and find this one now sounds really good.

Just finished it now mate really enjoyed it thanks for the recommendation :)
Hated that Simon dude though even though he had no choice but to cut him off he made no attempt to look for him really and why burn all his gear???
glad you liked it mate good stuff

been a while since I watched it so I don't know but might give it another go this week, gotta remember the conditions they were in mate, delirium can kick in easy enough, did he need the fire for warmth or something maybe

Been watching a good Adam Curtis mini series called The Trap. It explores how Western societies' conception of freedom has been changed throughout the last 50 years or so and through events such as the Cold War, Neoconservatism and 9/11, due to political, media and market pressures. It also includes a heavy dose of the social effects of game theory.

I'd recommend it to those of you who have grown tired of Punch and Judy politics and want to see the wider trends that have shaped modern British politics. It's really bloody interesting.

...just catching up with the documentary 'David Beckham into the Unknown'. I know he's not everybody's cup of tea, but this confirms my own personal view that he's a top bloke. Great insight, from drinking Guinness with his pals to loving his kids to bits. Recommended.
It was the same for me -not a fan of DB but showed him in a different light

Nice one for that mate. To be honest I'd never heard of Adam Curtis but I've been watching them since yesterday. So far I've watched the great british housing disaster (absolutely shocking), all 3 parts of the living dead (fascinating stuff and part 2 is basically the first part of the shock doctrine), 25 million pounds (really insightful documentary on Nick Leeson) and a few short films on YouTube. Just watching episode 1 of Pandora's box. Will watch the trap on my laptop as I can't find it on YouTube on my xbox.

How is society going to structure itself when mass-automation is an inevitability? Who will control the means of production when this happens? Can we idealise or be optimistic about how automation will occur or will it lead to further exploitation?
