.. I'll be setting off for Royal Birkdale in an hour or so, first stop Wetherspoons in town for a big breakfast and early pint of Guinness. Train to Birkdale and I can use my old mans free travel pass. Speith is in my son's and my portfolio of bets @ 16-1 and we've also got him @ 40-1 to win by 3 or more strokes. Regardless, should be a good day in good company, only decision is whether to wear a jacket or not.

I've just checked the weather and it's meant to be between 16-18C and sunny intervals most the day until late afternoon, so my answer is a no.

Neither do I. He's a very talented golfer who plays an enjoyable game, however I get a feeling that he's overly arrogant with some of his remarks.

Nothing wrong with confidence but you need to balance it with respect. Last Sunday he was the only golfer who wouldn't sign stuff for kids et al.

I went to the practice on Tuesday and he signed autographs on the 18th for about 20 mins alongside Mickelson.

I'm about to leave now. Strangely I would like the weather to go all crazy this afternoon as even though it'll be uncomfortable it'll make it fun.

Yep, level it up a bit then!.

Saying that I've just put a bet on Speith to have a bogey free round so maybe it's best for me if it stays sunny and still lol Put a couple of quid on Fleetwood finishing as leading English player as well ( plus a bogey free round for him and for Stenson )

Have a good time mate ;)

What's the thoughts on the 62 shot yesterday?
I'll admit that I didn't want him to get it. Not because I don't like him, just with the par being 70, it wasn't as good as 63's shot on par 72's?

7156 yards in 62 strokes is an unbelievable achievement, and if you were to take 2 of the harder par 4's, make them slightly longer and turn them in to par 5's there's a good chance you make the course easier to play.

You're right they could tweak it to make it a 72 and that would make it easier. That wouldn't be right but, it begs the question of them bringing the tee forward to make the par 4 drivable?
It was a great round don't get me wrong, for me though 9 under better than 8 under?

I dont know what the fuss is all about really, my record around Birkdale is 49 and that was in far more breezy conditions.

Admittedly this was a good ten years ago now like...using a PS2 control pad instead of actual clubs...from the comfort of my living room, but ye know...what's the difference?:D
