Poulter has certainly got that bit between his teeth. The way the crowd got behind him was reminiscent of playing in the Ryder cup for him. Just a shame he's up against speith whose irons and short game are up with the best.Just got in from a day at Birkdale, it was really windy this morning then turned wet (at one point torrential) in the afternoon. So we took shelter in the Open Arms, turned out we got free ale for a couple of hours.
If Poulter, Ramsey or McIlroy can stay within 2 of Spieth by the end of tomorrow the crowd will get behind them and Spieth will see his innards.
I'm throwing my 2 shilling on Poulter.

Birkdale is a great venue. Heard DJ say he'll only hit about 4 drivers. The bombers don't have an advantage here like at a lot of courses. The crosswinds mean the players that can shape the ball both ways come to the fore, allied to a great short game as there are a number of run off areas. I think you can tell it's my favourite open venue after muirfield.

Really impressed by the young lad Connolly as his game is a simple, no-thrills approach which I like. Also, he was very sociable last Sunday!
He was walking around unnoticed but was happy to talk at the end of the eighth for a fair few minutes and was saying it was unique in his eyes.
To be fair, he's only got a small stature with a thin frame so didn't give him much chance. My friend on the other hand put £5 E/W at 500/1.

Spieth with another birdie to end the day 11 under. Impressive.
Spieth is ridiculously good. I really really don't like him though for some reason.
He's so bloody likeable though.
Neither do I. He's a very talented golfer who plays an enjoyable game, however I get a feeling that he's overly arrogant with some of his remarks.
Nothing wrong with confidence but you need to balance it with respect. Last Sunday he was the only golfer who wouldn't sign stuff for kids et al.
Spieth never takes the credit. He always speaks in terms of 'we did this' and 'we did that' always giving his caddy full credit and that they are a team.
