Gogglebox

Watched the most recent one and was shocked to see Everton getting an explicit mention from Leon. Didn't think they'd let that sort of stuff through editing, but I guess the cat's out of the bag now anyways. Poor fella was talking about how we should beat Tottenham on Sunday.

He usually manages to slip in a few Everton comments along the way or sit there in an EFC crested polo shirt.

the famioly from the wirral are always in my asda.

I used to see them and be like, sure they look familiar, the n dawned on me it was them. Shop as a family as well it appears.

I really want to pick the gogglebox book up one day near them and shout, the people on this are tits. see how they react lol

Never managed to fathom the appeal of this programme. A bunch of people acting in no way like their normal selves because they're being filmed.

From what I've seen it is way too much like The Royle Family, another one I've never managed to fathom the appeal of.

When the programme first came on, I hated it mainly because of the concept of layabouts on a sofa (or so it seemed at first), but have grown to really enjoy it as the initial thought of stereo-typing quickly evaporated.

It isn't the stereotypes or the smashing of said stereotypes that bothered me, its the utter fakeness of it all.

I get what you're saying, but they shift a few families off from season-to-season and I'm sure putting it on for the camera has a bit to do with it. Naturally when the camera is on they're going to put it on a bit, but some of the reactions and commentary can be quite decent to watch.

Yes, I suppose I can imagine some of the quips are funny (some of the things I've seen them come out have occasionally raised a smile) but I just can't handle yet more people getting their 5 minutes of fame for little more than clowning around watching TV.

To be honest though that's more of a problem because of the people who watch this telly and wanna turn them into celebrities for doing what you've described. If people wanna stick them up on a pedestal they are welcome to it, but they all still seem to be quite grounded on the show when I watch. I'm not into the whole celebrity culture, I find it interesting when they have something to say about the telly on the show, but I could give a toss outside of that.

The 'posh ones' are on this weekend vs Farage.
Farage that was on question time tonight with Brand who dealt less well by comparrison with the character assasinations and threats.
