Goals...goals...goals

I’m starting to think goals are not our main issue, it’s an awful back four (waits for the what about Holgate brigade) which apparently needs 2 defensive MF players infornt regardless if home or away.

I honestly think our focus has been put on a striker and winger when it should have been on some decent quality defenders. Two average kids and the rotation of a pensioner partner, not to mention our 3rd choice RB playing LB.

We cannot create goals full stop so I’m not exactly sure why we have bought a couple of finishers.

I have always had a very simple approach to football, it is a matter of kicking the ball to the other people on your team and generally things will be fine. Unfortunately our players seem to kick it to the players on the other team, this is causing us issues.
Furthermore, you either
(a) stop the other side from scoring; or
(b) score more goals than the other team.
Again our players seem not to understand this concept and once again it is somewhat problematic.

Part of the problem for me is our transition through central midfield, our central midfielders have to change their shorts if they pass forward or take any kind of responsibility.

This hasn’t been helped with a general explosion of our former world class fullbacks. Being honest I think that the strategy, was solidity through the center and sign midfield players to cover the fullbacks who would penetrate, what we didn’t factor in was long term injuries to our full backs.

These days you need to do what Spurs do have four equally talented fullbacks, they have become that important to your team.

I’m sorry but I just fail to believe that the rest of the premier league is so so good that Everton as a team can’t create half a yard on the edge of the box against most teams for say Sigurdsson or Rooney to shoot.

that would be my main focus in training.

I think they just practice stupid things and “hope” they score goals and get chances, as let’s face it, we have no plan for attacking or style, it’s just cross our fingers and hope we get lucky.

Allardyce is well down with that, it’s how he works and always has.
