Goals from corners!

if we add siggurdson we can't be anything but dangerous, and that would go for free kicks as well, which is something we are missing with this team.

What an improvement this season, a far cry from the last regime who couldn't care less about them.
It's great to have that anticipation that something could happen, and while we don't want to be a West Brom and rely totally on them, a goal is a goal!

“I always believe that a goal from open play is a more satisfying goal,” said Martinez. “The hardest thing in football is to break a team down when everyone is behind the ball. A free-kick or dead ball situation is less in your control. But you are relying more on the bounce of the ball or people switching off or doing their duties."
Well a bounce of a ball or a switched off defender certainly helps.

Echo article from last season.

From Squawka:

This season so far we've scored 14 from set pieces.
Last season we scored 12 from set pieces.
2014/15 we scored 15
2013/14 we scored 15

..."a far cry from the last regime".

But ok...

That's surely bollocks.

Source: My eyes.
If Squawka is bollocks then it's got the same stats for this season already quoted.

More precisely if you like:

Goals from corners:

9 this season
8 last season

....old/new regime massive differences PTII :coffee:

Conceding we'd only scored 4 up until February during that season, a little.
All the stats on either goals scored from set pieces or specifically corners demonstrate one thing: there hasn't been a blind bit of difference in our prowess at them from Martinez to Koeman.

So much for the "pay off" of focussing more on them.

File under "another inconvenient truth"

On the flipside, we can finally defend them.

Or the team realised what a heap of crap the coaching was and done what they wanted. Your man listened when the team (of traitors) told him they have to mix it up. I'd be surprised if anyone bar your goodself, didn't think we look more of a threat from set pieces. TBH more arsed about setpieces we conceeded- are we better or worse?

Didn't think it would take long.................

We've scored from corners in games against the RS, Man United, Leicester (2) and Burnley in recent games.
