I love the way we can justify British people being a##holes abroad. She and her friends were guests in another country, they went out of their way to insult and disrespect the people of that country. They are not 15 year olds, they are in their twenties or older with good educations and they should know better. In my view she is very bit as much a hooligan as any lager loot.
I don't think she should go to gaol but she does deserve to be punished, a heavy fine and be made apologize to the people she has insulted.

This is definitely the case right? Cos I've been searching for pictures of her tits.

but when someone's in actual bother for upsetting a mountain spirit, I think the world in general has gone nuts.

The world has been nuts for a long time. Everywhere has their own rituals and societal code. Our own beliefs are normalized to us because we live them, making every other way of life strange by comparison because we view them through our own narrow lens. We're just as weird, like. People watch Made in Chelsea, worship Bruce Jenner in drag on the front of Vogue, argue over how good a grown man is at kicking a leather ball compared to other grown men, buy bottles of water. There's no end of things we do that might seem completely demented to the fresh-eyed outsider.

And FKW don't forget.

Eleanor Hawkins - 24, arrested yesterday in Malaysia, after stripping naked on top of the scared Malaysian mountain, Mount Kinabulu.

She was with a party of ten backpackers who ignored the advice of a local guide not of take their clothes off due to the Mountain being sacred and Malaysia being a conservative Muslim Country.

What did she expect !

As far I can tell this has nothing to do with the Muslim community in Malaysia. Its local indigenous tribes people in the region who have there own belief system. Malaysia has a very multicultural population, comprising of Malays, Indians, Chinese and various tribes.

Just be to be clear I'm not commenting on whats right and wrong in the situation, I just think its important to make that point.

Absolutely, that's fair enough.

I'm all for respecting cultures, but when someone's in actual bother for upsetting a mountain spirit, I think the world in general has gone nuts.

They haven't been arrested for upsetting a mountain spirit.

The charge is most likely to be for public indecency or causing a public nuisance. Which is fair enough.

They will probably only receive a small fine.

Eleanor Hawkins just after being arrested. I'd imagine she'll get a fine and a good telling off, if that.

Has anybody there even thought that the mountain god might have actually enjoyed seeing tits on his mountain and caused the earthquake to spite the locals because of the lack of tits prior to the brit's visit.

Burnt chickens and chanting or tits bouncing? hmmm lol

Well, they were warned like

Doesn't matter if you think the law is silly, them's the rules and the rules they broke

If it were the case that they didn't know and then did it, fair enough, they get my sympathy

I've never got the whole "ignorance isn't an excuse" belief. If you're in a foreign country on your hols, you can't expect to understand or know all of their rules and beliefs

But they knew full well they could get in trouble for doing this and just did it anyway. It's on them I'm afraid
