Reidy's Bottle Of Grecian

The Unobstructed View
whats the bestest gig you've been too for me it's a dead heat between
u2 - joshua tree tour - wembley stadium
u2 - zoo tv - gmex, stop sellafield - greenpeace benefit gig
the stone roses - spike island

all were fantastic and i just can't pick a best out of them

I've never even been to a gig.

I'm not into that kinda thing although i am interested in getting some Lee Evans tickets.

Ian Brown at Hull City Hall. Was stood right on the barrier at the front and got his harmonica :D :D :D

Stereophonics, Travis and R.E.M. were also great gigs. Tried to get tickets to see my hero Paul Weller in May but we were on phones and internet all day when they went on sale but couldn't get through :(

Off to see Ocean Colour Scene do an acoustic gig in York on Monday night, that should be awesome (y)

Paul Weller in front of a couple of hundred people on the Catch Flame tour (*winds up Welton*)
Bruce Springsteen from the front on the Born In The USA tour
Xavier Naidoo - Telegramm für X tour

each to their own i suppose, personally he makes my [Poor language removed] itch, "the boss" almost as bad as "the guvnor". only one of his i even 1/2 like was covered by frankie goes to hollywood and vastly improved too, born to run, wonder why the u.s. forces don't adopt that one after all its just as appropriate as born in the usa if not more app.

I can appreciate why people don't like the Born in the USA era generally these days - most of the songs were overplayed and the the title one appropriated (wrongly) as a triumphalist anthem. I can't think of the last time I played it. But he's been the musical accompaniment through the years and I'm glad I got to see him that time (and he, along with the others above, is one of the most committed live performers I've ever seen).

saw no doubt years back and was standing to the side of the stage, gwen came over and stuck her trumper right in my mush, now that was worth the entrance fee alone !!! had a bit of a mop like her fella's so reckon i could've got there no problem.

Travis at Glastonbury was a top gigg.

Coldplay at the reebock.

Also saw the counting crows in manchester apollo, was a top gigg an great band live.

Aussie pink floyd is always a great night out.

I've not been to a gig for years. However, the best ones I did go to usually involved Hawkwind. I remember a cracker at the Brixton Academy in 1994 or 1995. Other than that, I remember a great gig with Senser in Christiania in Copenhagen. Also saw an amazing Ozric Tentacles gig in Kilburn.

saw senser at the sally army place in st.helens and yes they were good, did a great version of the spacemen 3 song - revolution, was it bassman spaceman that was in sensor ? or jason spaceman ? those days are very hazy, didn't jason form another band too ? was it spiritualized ? saw them a few times. also seen ozrics a few times too, doesn't suprise me that you've been to see those bands if you were into hawkwind, never listened to any of their stuff till recently and yeah lemmy was right they did do heads in.
or was it sonic boom ?

3 great names jason spaceman, bassman spaceman and sonic boom, before anyone asks the question, what were those guys on ? answer....everything.

Those days really are hazy. I'm still getting over them to this day.

I'm not sure what the line-up of Senser was. i saw them 2 or 3 times and remember their cover of Channel Zero by Public Enemy (who I saw in Bern in Switzerland) as being far better than the original.

Hawkwind were an incredible live band. The light shows and getting off your face was really what it was all about. Same with Ozric Tentacles. I can remember thinking I'd gone blind after one of their gigs (sun burnt my wide open trippy eyes at 5 a.m.)

Now I'm 40 I couldn't, and wouldn't, do any of that anymore.

I saw Kyuss in some shitty little place near Stoke which was brilliant (the gig, not Stoke) And Tool in Sydney a couple of years ago, which was probably the best "Big" gig I've been to.

Never got to see Spacemen 3 but saw Spiritualized a few times. Always a great gig, and always a thick black fog above the crowd - great 'atmosphere'.

Walking with Jesus was a classic.
