Most here probably too young to remember when we needed Chelsea to beat Bolton on the last day of the season for us to stay up.

Bolton were a decent side back then & if I remember correctly, Chelsea had nothing to play for. But Vialli being a man of honour actually said “today we had to play like Everton players”.





Brilliant player & a true gentleman. RIP
 
Loved playing and being at Goodison. His comment on Goodison Park “the structure is quite old, but it smells of history”. RIP.
 
Anybody dying at that age is sad news, but this one was a gut punch. Anyone around my age (40) and into footy as a kid was absolutely gobbling up the Serie A coverage on Channel 4 in the early 90s and this guy was a stud in that league, at that time.

Title win with Samp, big money move to (and Champions League with?) Juve, and then being one of the first wave to make the switch to the Prem. Did really well in his first season as Chelsea player/manager, too, I recall.

Seemed like a great guy, too. Sad, sad day. RIP big man.
