Gerry deulofeu selfish concerns

Deulofeu is unpredictable and always will be... that is what makes him the player that he is.
Sometimes he makes the wrong decision, but it is a constant nightmare for defenders when they have no idea what he will do next.

We knew when we took him on loan that he wasn't the finished article ,otherwise we wouldn't have him at our club.
He offers something different and is learning all the time.I do believe he will be at Everton next season as it will further help his progress and next season he will further improve as a player.

I disagree.

The truly exceptional strikers are always gambling that the ball will be played into them.

Gerald is there to confound and confuse the opposition....Lukaku should be anticipating his movements and playing the percentages.

I think though that his unpredictability works against him sometimes though. How can Lukaku possibly guess where and when to run into when Deulofeu has no idea himself what hes going to do wih it.

A couple more years of maturity and the lad will improve his decision-making to become the best winger in world football, in my opinion.

i'd prefer he does well than he doesn't, but i don't think it has much to do with everton

he's still got a fair way before he's starting for barca anyway.

its like some people are judging for the player he COULD be, as opposed to the player he is for everton right now. him winning the ballon d'or courtesy of leading barca to a quadruple in 2018, wouldn't be getting us any points in the league

While I agree many people are judging him on the future, I still think we are lucky to be seeing a potential superstar playing for us and generally playing well. You can see his class and you can see why Barca rate him.
I simply rate him on the now - Yes he makes mistakes but at least he attempts to beat a man to create opportunities.

Yes he is selfish but so is Barkley at times. It is called being a kid learning the game. Both have improved on that front over the season and if we keep Deulofeu for another season he will vastly improve it next season as he gains more and more experience.

For me he is a great asset and I started the thread simply to address all those labeling him selfish , suggestion being he is not a team player . I think this lad is doing exactly what Berto is asking him to do, playing to his strengths. I absolutely love his style of play perfectly suited to the gaffers culture of class, style and winning mentality . I seem to remember the shower across the way complaining about Sturridge that he kept getting shepherded into impotent positions ,then all of a sudden he wasn't and goals resulted.I would like us to be a little more patient with him and yes I think he plays here next season despite FCBarca's concern about how he is being used here.

is this really an issue. All i see is a kid who wants to play first team football and as a result trys to much. Yes he does the same thing all the time when he runs himself into trouble but hows that any different to boss rarkley constantly dwellin on the ball and often gettin dispossessed.

theyre not gonna get it right everytime.personally i think deulafeo needs pienaars link up play to shine

+1

At no other club would there be fellows taking to keyboards to decry the talents of probably the most exciting talent we have had here in any of our lifetimes.

If Barca announced he was for sale, then see the likes of the rs, City, Arsenal and Spurs all desperately trying to sign him, that alone tells you what a talent he is, all young players who like to beat a man are selfish, its how quickly they start adapting to know when to be selfish and when to not that determines how quick they go from the wonderkid tag to world class

The maddening thing about him is when he plays the right ball - the Newcastle game for instance, in which (in addition to the assist for the second goal) the chest down to Barkley took real courage to go through with given that he had a boot aimed at his head whilst he was doing it - he shows what a ludicrously good player he is.

Though in four or five years people will just be made up that he played for us.
