Gerry deulofeu selfish concerns

Problem with his crossing is that it's to hard to time your run to get on the end of them... You see players make the run and he doesn't release it... Then they are flat footed and he delivers and they are marked of on their heels

It was a great cross, but when a forward has already made 3 or 4 great runs into that space and the ball never comes, you think twice about committing yourself to that space the next time.

The boy can pick a pass, he just needs to do it more often and quicker, rather than trying to beat the 3rd defender too

It's part of his armoury....the opposition never know if he's going to shoot or pass either. That confuses them.

And Lukaku should be working on the assumption that the cross was coming in to him.....just like at the Barcodes.

I just love Gerald.

Every time the ball goes to him I am up on my feet, whether at Goodison or when I watch away games on TV.

And I will state my belief that if he hadn't been injured just as he was really stepping up, we would be in there with a chance of winning the title.

My view is that all those runs he makes demoralise the full back whom is lining him and eventually he tires and makes mistakes.

He tore their left back a new one yesterday and even when he departed Mirallas and Seamus had the run of him the rest of the game.

I ust hope against hope we can get Gerald for another season.

Nonsense, even on the replays you could see players in the box not moving at all despite knowing (At least they should have known) that Deulo would get the ball in - as he has many times before)...Have to keep moving

Wrong again i'm afraid.

He had failed to get a cross on about 3 times yesterday so it stands to reason that the attacking players in the box weren't expecting him to actually do it when he finally put a good ball in.

His delivery needs to be way way more consistent. And i'm sure it will be over time.

I disagree.

The truly exceptional strikers are always gambling that the ball will be played into them.

Gerald is there to confound and confuse the opposition....Lukaku should be anticipating his movements and playing the percentages.

He probably should mate. But you can understand why he didn't.

Exactly and like I've already said, repeatedly, watch the replays and see how static Lukaku is - you can see Deulofeu yelling at him to move as he has on other occasions

You can also see Lukaku, Osman, Barkley, Coleman etc etc.... yelling at Deulofeu for not releasing the ball early on a number of occasions.

I don't think that he's selfish, it's just that that side of his game will take longer to develop.
People said the same thing about Ronaldo for a long time, but look at the number of assists he makes now.

No concerns with Deulofeu. If we asked him to cut back on his 1-on-1 dribbles, it would hinder his development. He is an out and out winger, I love watching him play. He is at times quite frustrating, but you know that he could make up for it when he next gets the ball. Very exciting player to watch, think we need to gamble more and getting to the near post when he crosses. He always fires it to the near post and we never have anyone there.
