The reality is Deulofeu had many cameos this season and has not made a match-changing contribution in any of them. He would have come on and done nothing. Again.

That was something I was disappointed with in the January window. Not so much that we let him go, but that we didn't replace him with an impact type player.

Eh? It's absolutely the opposite. He was an absolute king here when he played for half a season solidly and now he gets laughed at having not really played for us for a year.

He made a decent contribution his first time around.

He was still way too erratic to get a regular berth in the team.

Tons of talent obviously but it means nothing if he cant put it all together on a regular basis. If he isnt playing well then he is next to useless.

I think there is a massive element of 'rose tinted glasses' with some players, Del being one. His talent is obvious and I would happily liken him to Duncan McKenzie in that respect, and for those who never saw him, that is high praise indeed! But like Duncan, his inconsistency was more detrimental to the team than his obvious talents were a benefit! I would have loved this kid to have done it for us, his crossing of the ball etc was exceptional. But as has been mentioned before, if he got blacked a few times, the sulks came over him and he would start doing stupid dives looking for fouls etc.

I genuinely hope the lad makes it, but very truly great player has consistency along with skill etc. Del is sadly lacking in that department and because of that he is most probabaly going to drift from club to club like Royston Drenthe or a score of other talented but non-committed or inconsistent players!

What on earth is that article? He isn't slow by any means, but he gets blown over by a gust of wind and looks on his deathbed after running 10 yards.

...and yet Dumcan McKenzie will be one of only a handful of players you'll remember from that era and the rest - the Trevor Ross's, Bruce Rioch's, Peter Eastoe''s - will scarcely be thought of at all, le alone fondly.

The McKenzies and Dave Thomas' will always be remembered. Same goes for Deulofeu.
