If Geri comes back a more successful player after his Milan stint, wouldn't you say that was good managing? He knew Geri wasn't going to get the playing time here, so he gave him an opportunity to go to a club with history where he would be afforded plenty of playing time. Hopefully he comes back a more confident player and proves Koeman wrong.

May have to file him with Barkley as another player who doesn't like Koeman much

Oh come on.

You know what strikes me, everytime we got training session shots, old paper lungs was always laughing, messing around, training is 1 big joke to him, that doesnt sit right with Ronny.

He pulls out of tackles and he goes missing when its time to dig deep.

People are pointing the finger at Ronny, but ask yourself, was it Ronny that binned him off from Barca? Was it Ronny that binned him off from Sevilla? Was it Ronny that dropped him for Aaron Lennon? Was it Ronny that binned him from Milan?

Theres been 1 factor in Geris short career so far, Managers bin him off.

I direct you to comments from Unai Emery :

“He has incredible qualities but lacks others. Put him out there, one on one and ... pfff,” Emery told Sid Lowe.

“But make him play football with teammates, on a big pitch, and it’s hard. He doesn’t have the maturity or capacity for sacrifice yet.

"I told him: 'There are players here who aspire to a contract like yours, men with less talent but more hunger: Iborra, Carriço, Vitolo. They know what it costs. You haven’t experienced that. When you do, you’ll grow. I hope you get that. If not here, somewhere else.'"

2 years later and hes still bouncing around clubs.

I'm possibly wrong, but Koeman doesn't seem to be the type that will readily admit to being wrong.
Sad to say but I haven't really followed how Geri has been doing, based on what I have already said.
He is history.

I 100% agree. Emery's comments sum him up perfectly.

It would be a huge shame for him to waste the talent he so obviously has. It's not like he's a bad character either, he's a settled normal guy but he needs to show that hunger.

He's been compared to Ronaldo many times and it's a fair comparison in raw talent terms, especially when you look at him when he joined us and Ronaldo when he joined United. There's a huge difference in the two though and that's the hunger and commitment Ronaldo has shown his whole career.

I'd be gutted if he went permanently because he has unlimited potential. I think his Milan loan has helped as he's played every week and performed well.

With Europa next year we are the perfect club for him, but we need him to come back and work harder than anyone otherwise he'll be sold and he'll just continue to drift between clubs.

If anyone can get him to reach his potential it's Koeman.

Hunger, hunger, hunger.

Thats the word I keep seeing, ignoring the obvious joke, but thats the problem, hes gone from Barca to Sevilla to Everton to Milan, hes had it handed to him on a silver platter, HOPEFULLY the penny will drop, but I dont think it will be here, maybe in 3 years when hes playing at San Jargio in the Spanish 4th division.

Didnt realise that the is going into the last year of his contract. I'm assuming, like Barkley, he either signs a new one or gets sold. I dont know if the club intend to give him a new deal but we cant lose him on a free.

Not a chance in hell we give him a new contract, nor would I think theres any chance he would sign 1, we will try and shift him on this summer, if not for a fee, but defo on loan.

Do people think Ronny sent him away as punishment? In the hope that he comes back and all is forgiven? He deemed him not needed, he wont be coming back, hes very much done here.

Punishment for what though?

Getting a talented player to reach his potential is not always coachable. You can lead a horse to water.. etc.
Some such players just have a mental or physical barrier that no amount of expert coaching can get past. Having said that, we should keep him on for next season, even if that means in the role of an impact sub, (unless he can prove he is now capable of 90mins of high intensity).

"The boy is talented, yes. But ok, he doesn't have the hunger required".
