He's playing okay in the Italian league.
Genuinely don't think he's cut out for the pace and strength of the premier league but I'd be happy to be proved wrong if he comes back.
I certainly don't think he's anywhere near the calibre of player Barcelona want in their squad.

I think we've all seen enough of him in an Everton shirt to know he's inconsistent but brilliant when he gets it right.
We dont have much brilliance in our ranks. My wish would be for us to retain it and work with it.
But ok....
The odd flash of brilliance in amongst mainly sub standard performances. Expected a lot more from him but sadly never lived up to the hype.

He would do it about 1 game in 10 under both Martinez and Koeman. Nowhere near consistent enough. A spell on loan might end up being best for all parties
How long do you bother persisting with the inconsistency though ?
A loan deal in my eye was the best scenario. It was suggested that we weren't being offered the money we wanted for him during January.
In the summer it is now more likely that we'll either get back an improved player (the best scenario), or sell him on for an acceptable fee.
I've always admired Deulofeu's talent however on numerous occasions I've stated he was a luxury player: not enough consistency; poor fitness.
It's all well and good saying we now lack a player of his talent or he wasn't given enough time to find form, but we can't afford a show pony.

agree with this. I don't think he has been given a good run in the team to find himself. Always seemed to me that he was out there trying to prove himself every time he had the ball and caused him to hold on to it too long.

Exactly. I'd have been gutted if we'd sold Deulofeu for peanuts for him to go on and fulfill his potential elsewhere. As it is, he gets half a season with Milan. It's then a question as to whether he's wanted back and for that matter whether he wants to come back. Either way, he's not a kid anymore and he needs to start producing, either for us or for someone else

But the thing is about a player like that - they get it right once in a match and it transforms a game. That's something you hold onto and nurture, not repel.

But that's the point. He does occasionally get it right once in a match. He then does nothing for several matches in a row. One good moment in one game does not excuse him going awol several games after that
