Gerard Deulofeu

I like all our wingers, we spent so long with the likes of Billy and Davies pretending to be able to play on the wing, that I still feel spoilt having Lennon, Bolasie, Mirallas and Deulofeu to choose from. Deu is still my favourite though

Weirdly i like all our wingers too, the only issue i have is i dont think as a group of players they provide enough goal threat consistently across a season

Not yet, but to be honest though I think we are a small change away from it happening...
For me the biggest positive change would be to buy a decent striker and play 2 up front with only 1 defensive mid or two attacking midfielders.

1 DM is enough imo, just don't send so much down the wings via our defenders, utilise the qualities these wingers of ours have instead of weakening our attack and defence and subsequently midfield by sending defenders forwards to be the attacking force and the midfielders back to cover.

Its a horribly negative system regardless of how many defenders you put out of place in the opposition penalty area, its never going to be as good as having forwards there or as safe as having defenders in defence and having extra forwards as targets will likely make the wingers far more effective than they have been imo.

We've just got to hope he doesn't play too well in the absence of Bolasie or Barca will defo exercise that buyback clause.

It's the only possible reason I can think of for him not playing that we bought him on the cheap and don't want him to go back. Very clever really.
I like it... We will wait till his last year of professional football so its too late for them, then unleash him on the world.... mwahahahahaha... **** you Barca..

It's genius really. Absolute genius.

The only problem is we've exposed this cunning plan to all the journos who will no doubt make this public knowledge.

Although he does strongly favour his right foot I don't see that as a major issue when on form he can provide some of the most inch perfect passes and crosses, there is one in particular that springs to mind for a Barkley goal (West Brom?) that was just jaw dropping.

I disagree about the one trick pony bit, when he first came all he did was run at his fullback until he ran out of space at the byline but, particularly last season, when the fullbacks started standing off him a bit more he was provided his crosses from much closer from the half way line or getting involved in link up play around the box. He was also breaking fast from opposition set pieces and running more central.

He obviously needs to improve his stamina, confidence and cut out the histrionics but at least he still has some time on his side unlike our other wingers who have their own set of limitations.

Words out of my mouth.

The pass that springs to mind for me though LL is his eye-of-the-needle throughball for Lukaku against West Ham last season.

This is the one - looks up before he receives the ball, knows what he's going to do, one touch to settle, boop, straight through the tiny gap between the CBs and perfectly weighted so it takes Rom into the box but juuust out of reach of Adrian:

Aye, that is none too shabby!

That's fair enough. I'm just not convinced he's up for the PL on a regular basis. Physically or mentally.

The boy has talent, it's there for all to see...hopefully a run of games will give him the confidence he needs to play at his best.

I am standing by my position that he is way too one footed...but hey ho so is Robben and he's made quite a career off one foot.

Love the player, and what he can do. Trouble is, he is now at the age where he wont thicken out, or develop upper body strength, and he is too easily pushed around.

I am no fan of Sterling, obvs, but that lad is strong, you rarely see him pushed off the ball, and he is brave.

Geri is twice the player in ability/tricks/talent, but lacks them attributes imo.

Has ability in spades. Has pace. Has a good cross in him. Trying to bulk up but never going to be a beast of a player. He needs to cut out the bit of going down easy. He needs to hold up profession more and make the right choices when to take a player on. Not when he has 2 or 3 around him. 1 v 1 he might be one of the best in the league. When we had bolasie lukaku mirallas and del fit would prefer us to sit deep and play counter attack football more.

Ryan Giggs didn't do too bad either.

I slated him yesterday, but as fickle as I am I would like to see him get another chance starting this week against Watford.

It really is time for him to deliver though again when given his chance.
