Yes, Everton do at times make errors in conducting transfers, so does every other club. W are probably no better or worse than the others.

The difference now is that so much information is available from so many sources that fans become aware of a potential deal at a much earlier stage.
In earlier time you only became aware as the deal was about to be concluded or was already signed.

We certainly don't know if Everton or Barcelona have blame to be laid at their door.
