I feel for Lundstram though. We just never seemed to maximise the lads potential and wrote him off quite early. It must have knocked his confidence

No they aren't, you just need to have realistic expectations of how many will come through to the first team of any academy.

Clubs don't release players at age 19 (who they bought for £300k when they were 14, who they had also loaned out to Football League club for experience last season), without good reason.

Everton certainly don't unless they have a major reason, given the investment in him.
