Every white person is responsible for the slave trade?
Seems so.
Every white person is responsible for the slave trade?
So personally white people celebrating the end of the horrible stain on history is patronising to me.Every white person is responsible for the slave trade?

Much like if they started shooting black people for a year and when they ended , talked about celebrating the end of the shootings.

What an odd thing to sayMore to the point , every white person with money is guilty of the slave trade. The poor no , but the rich yes
Are people celebrating the end of it or acknowledging it as a moment in history? Also check the edit of the last post.
But to reply to that, what's the difference ? The slave trade was the enslavement and murder of black people by white people. What's the difference between the example I gave and that other than time?

It shouldn't..it should translate into an acknowledgment of history and a move towards greater equality. Its difficult. I hate judging events from 300 years ago by our current moral standards, no matter what the issue. But it seems that the BLM (worthy) movement has cascaded into me, as a white man, having to feel guilty about stuff I had no involvement in.
The slave trade was abhorrent, but its long been accepted as such.
And the uncomfortable truth is that "the whites" (whatever that means), have not had a monopoly of exploiting other people.
I am proud of the way normal folk in the UK have responded positively to the issues raised by police brutality in Merica, (the hypocrisy over there over their reaction to the original man who took the knee is sickening mind), but I fail to see why that should translate into a mass self loathing here.

I don't feel guilty. As for paying reparations we've all been paying compensation to the families of those deprived of their assets through the abolition of slavery so I wouldn't focus on it too much.Apparently. I’m not looking forward to explaining to my granddaughter why she should feel guilty and pay reparations for something she never did.....
There is, what, 90+ matches, 22 on pitch plus subs? 2500+? I don't know how many have passed due to that but that isn't a bad shout.Just think it's a good idea.
