This is the guy who sent out the Christmas card photo with the guns. The coalition that voted this down was mostly swing-district Republicans, but there were a few of the other more extreme members, like Massie, who voted Nay. Most likely, they agreed with this sentiment.

Massie made a speech on the floor arguing against on 8th and 27th Amendment grounds. He's fighting his $500 fine on 27th Amendment grounds, since the 8th hardly applies. I think he's technically correct to call the dismissals 'tortured' in reasoning. What the judges are finding is that there's significant public interest in having the Speaker have a full spectrum of options when managing unruly members. They just can't say that.

It's worth noting that a few other 'luminaries' like MTG went to federal court over the $500 fine, but voted for this. I think those in favor made a very cynical calculation. The fine will obviously be dismissed in court, so there's no long-term threat from making a symbolic, headline-grabbing vote. This wastes taxpayer money, since it gets tossed on the 8th Amendment in five seconds. I can't see Schiff not being awarded attorney's fees, but their votes show they don't care about that.

Bill Clinton came under a ton of fire for being a weathervane, much of it merited. This is just as bad. It also shows how fractured the GOP coalition in the House really is. They can't get to 218 on very basic things that they agree upon, because the extreme members of the right sabotage getting to 218.

This is absolutely insane. It's the kind of scorched earth tactics I would expect from a former oblong-ball coach. It works, but it shows he does not care about the spillover from his actions.

What he wants is to kill the DoD policy to permit service members in a state without abortion access to receive reimbursement for travel expenses associated with receiving the care. He is using the bit in Senate procedure that permits a single senator to force a roll call vote. I've seen Mike Lee use it on other occasions to vote against absolutely every bit of new federal spending without an offset. One time a year or two ago, Lee forced a vote so he could be the lone 'Nay' against removing the five-month waiting period before veterans diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease) could begin receiving disability benefits.

Normally, the Senate approves the flag officer promotion bill in a single vote. His tactic is to insist that they hold two hundred and fifty roll call votes to solve the problem, which would consume the rest of the Senate floor time in this session. Naturally, almost all of his colleagues are furious with him for creating this problem.

This guy literally left college recruits and fellow coaches at the dinner table never to return because he accepted a position at another school. He lied to another University's admins and BMDs about his commitment to his contract and walked to another school a week later. His wife ran a red light and crashed into the vehicle driven by a 73-year-old woman whose 87-year-old husband was in the passenger seat. Both died within months of the accident. She got a traffic citation.

"You think a white nationalist is a Nazi? I don't look at it like that. I look at a white nationalist as a Trump Republican." - Tommy Tuberville.
"(Democrats) want to control what you have. They want reparations because they think the people that do the crime (African Americans) are owed that. Bullshit! They are not owed that.” - Tommy Tuberville, who made $25M in compensation coaching largely African-American student-athletes.

Epic entitlement mentality and a weapons-grade moron.
