Nailed on for a recount regardless you'd imagine.
yes, automatic recount possibly - If I'm reading it correctly, Colorado law specifies if gap between winner and 2nd place is less than 0.5% of top vote getter's total, then a recount is automatic. So, if whoever wins gets 160,000 votes, then 0.5% is 800 votes. Current gap is 433 votes.

Yes, I'm heavily invested in this race - she is such a dumpster fire as a public servant that she needs to be gone. If she were a hell-bent conservative but actually worked for her district and to strengthen our country, then at least I could have some grudging respect for her. But she's so dumb and unengaged that she's an embarrassment to her district, to Colorado, to Congress (and that's saying a lot) and to the US.

So this is really interesting. The insurgents seem to have anticipated what I think McCarthy's play should be, and are trying to hand him a sham Speakership where they can remove him whenever they want. That would prevent him from playing his cards as though only the next two years matter, and knifing them in the back.

End of the day, McCarthy is the only person that can sit the throne if he has both Jordan and Scalise. I think his rebels have to settle for committee assignments, because if they don't a Democrat becomes Speaker and they all get banished to Agriculture and Natural Resources. The path that leads to that outcome will probably be entertaining, though.

Haven't really been following the elections this week, but find it pretty baffling that they are still counting the votes. It's the equivalent of a general election count in the UK going until the following Monday morning.
