That the tax cuts helped millionaires and billionaires didn’t seem a problem to the senator.

Funny how they didn't mind when large stimulus checks went to big businesses who were not financially starved but somehow checks directly to the people, people who need it is an issue.

I won't get a check nor will my wife. We earn over the limit set.

So their argument is pathetic and so easily fact checked. Scum the lot of them. The GOP are a joke.

The only reason we got one last time and will this time again is because of our son. So only one check in this household. Again a check I will donate.

There were at least two local churches (who are tax exempt and have therefore contributed exactly $0 EVER to the Federal government) that accepted in excess of $2M in the first round of stimulus.

Today Senator Ron Johnson made reference to the grave danger of mortgaging our grandchildren's future with big covid relief payouts and the journalist interviewing him failed to ask how he voted on the 2017 tax cuts that mortgaged our grandchildren's future.

But I didn't want the journalist to ask him about that, really. I wanted her to stab him in the throat.

Joel Osteen's megachurch got $4.4 million in PPP funding. The 4th largest amount for any entity in Houston.

Joel Osteen had to be shamed into opening the doors of Lakewood Church (which is the former arena of the Houston Rockets) to help homeless victims of Hurricane Harvey.

I had read that and its disgusting. Don't get me started on this countries lack of oversight on so called religions and religious groups simply because the constitution mentions "freedom of religion".

Whatever about the big religions being abusive and criminal the amount of smaller ones ripping people off and abusing their trust is shocking.

A quick fix to come up with the money needed to issue the $2,000 individual payments would be to reverse the tax cuts given to the rich and corporations but Republicans definitely don't want to do that as we know what their priorities are. They are a shameless bunch thus I am praying that Democrats take control of the Senate next week and take away from Mcconnell the leadership position that he has been abusing for 10 years now.

"Finally, a smart democrat getting tough. And telling the truth, that in fact, Kelly has been campaigning with a klansman."

This type of toughness and truth telling is exactly what Democrats need to do more often on TV. When given the opportunity they need to convey to the American public, and to Fox audiences, that Republicans don't care about anything but themselves. Both, Perdue and Kelly, are corrupted politicians that have abuse their power to enrich themselves. I still don't get how Martha Stewart went to jail for inside trading and these two are running for the Senate.

Even if there weren't an income cutoff in the $2k cheques (which there are), there are ~630 billionaires in the US.

That would be a total of $1.26m going to billionaires.

That is about 0.00003% of their total wealth.

I *REALLY* don't think they're that fussed.
Of course they aren’t worried about money getting into the hands of billionaires. If anything they probably oppose the $2k payments because that allows TOO MUCH money to get into the hands of the plebs. Good on Bernie for calling them on it yesterday...
