Concerning but not surprising.
I mean the PRESIDENT says the country is being “invaded” by a group made up of “animals”, “criminals”, “drug dealers”, “really bad dudes” and “rapists”...
I mean if all that were true, what these militia are doing can really be seen as one of the few rational responses to such an imminent threat.

People swat away the comparisons with the Nazis, and I do see why - clearly the Trump administration isn’t gassing millions of people, and I’m not saying that that (or anything in the same ballpark) is definitely (or even remotely likely to be) in the cards for the future...
But it is worth noting that the Nazis didn’t do that on day 1 either... and before they got to that stage, they trod a lot of the ground that we see being trodden at the moment

A similar observation was made in the EU thread the other day.
Well, when I say similar, I mean the exact same one.
Worrying times. Made more worrying when folk react by leaping to the (wrong) conclusion that some are suggesting another holocaust is round the corner. They just do not get it.
yea, the constitution is bible over here. So the ability to form a well armed (lets gloss over 'and regulated') militia is sacrosanct.
in the 60's and 70's the cold war did a pretty effective job of eliminating most left wing fringe groups in America.
In the 80's and 90's Reaganomics stepped in to take care of the unions and the elimination of the FCC fairness doctrine saw far right media flow in to the gap left by the end of the cold war. Gingrich started serious obstructionist politics.
In the 00's and 10's Social media became an increasingly powerful tool in an ever polarizing political landscape. The Russians, suffering heavy sanctions for their annexation of Crimea, used social media to elect a fringe outsider who's base had grown up through four decades of being shaped by the right / far right.
So now you have a situation where the country is made up of moderate centerists (who Americans think are left wing), right wing (considered moderates) and far right (considered right wing). You just have to take one look at republicans in congress and see what they are defending to see how far right they have gone.
All of which is to say that there is a perfect storm of constitutional adoration, social media brainwashing, and governmental encouragement happening at the moment.
Trump is well aware that there is a very high chance he's be carted off to jail the minute he leaves the oval office so it seems pretty clear that he needs to encourage this militia behaviour and use it as a deterrent to protect himself.
These militia men are being controlled by the government which is the exact opposite of what the constitution intended.
Apologies for the rambling post. It's kinda me just trying to piece it all together!

It's not just Nazi Germany who can be looked at for comparison though. I see a lot of similarities in language to what Rwandans said about each other before that genocide. It isn't like people just woke up one day and decided they hated a group of people enough to try to exterminate them. It's a conditioning that builds and builds. Right now it is building in the United States

It has nothing to do with his district and is nowhere near it.
Whats worse is why are the border patrol entertaining him. He does not represent Arizona and they should swerve indicted men and women. The irony of looking for criminals when you are one yourself.
