Just imagine this admittedly very unlikely scenario - GB News' sports section continually analyses the many occasions referees have shown leniency to Liverpool, highlights incidents like Mane not getting a red card for punching an opponent, shows rolling repeats of the many contentious decisions made in their favour, does not hire any former RS players as pundits, and refuses to toe the media line that they spend little or nothing - how would we feel about the network then?

Andrew Neil's a clever guy. One of the big disappointments for me was not seeing him ripping into Boris Johnson before the last election. I had my sandwiches and thermos all ready in front of the TV too.

Despite his obvious cowardice and dodginess, the oafs still voted for him.

To me, he overstates the case. Anyone with any nous knows that the BBC have ALWAYS presented the message of the rich and powerful. They were set up by Reith to do exactly that. Their first trial of strength was the 1926 General Strike and they sought to smash it, like they do every national strike there ever has been. The difference now is that we live in an era where everything is there to be commodified and monetised, so business - not content with just letting it propgate ideology for them - wants to own the BBC too.

In a way, Monbiot is guilty of what he accuses Marr of doing.
