Yeah, awful. It's quite telling how those closest to him were absolutely blindsided by it. Talking about how he was joking and laughing. That's not a criticism of them, more a reflection on two things. First, in the interim period, understanding of mental health issues has grown and, arguably, there is more awareness folk with depression can put on a mask. Second, and as important (if not more), you really never know what's going on with someone.

It's so easy to forget when caught up in the day to day, but sometimes we just need to keep it in mind and support folk or just be a bit nicer to one another. Or ourselves.

I remember him so well. That piece on the BBC page is a heart wrenching story, but I'm glad I have read it. RIP Gary.

He was a good man, a gentleman in a time full of spice boys and prima-donnas. Terrible to think what his family have gone through when they had no idea he had been struggling within for so many years.

just reading his book now, more as I have struggled with my mental health over the years and it’s something I am investing my own time into now. So sad on an Everton note even Big Joe had him down as a future Everton manager. Sad that we will never know.

Was a huge shock when this happened, the week before he had been down here as the special guest at a sportsmen’s dinner and posed for pics and was a great speaker .

I was disappointed when he left and the manner in which it all happened. He was on his way to becoming a good manager and he might of been our manager one day. A real shame and sad how he passed. RIP Gary.

The best science can't really see what someone is thinking. Always be aware of that.
